"The Grandaddy Jig" was written for my father-in-law, Ben, who was called "grandaddy" by some in the family. I wrote it shortly after he died. Ben had a fierce, loving and lively spirit, but his body was worn out at the end of a long life. In this jig, especially when the key turns from minor key to major, I imagine how his spirit might feel when freed of an old troublesome body - dancing with joy at the release.
