It reminds me of his very first outfit in OG DB. But his outfits since first training with Roshi always had their symbols on them until the last arc when he didn't have any symbols. I'd say that was the first reference to him being master.

Yeah goku not seeing bulma and the others for like 5 years is not actually true with super being canon.....maybe like 1-2 years at most but definitely not 5 and may in fact them not seeing each other for that long probably isn't true at all due to super. They'll get to Super but they've said they're doing GT next. Most first time viewers just go with production/release timeline. Switching between series to series to follow a chopped up timeline tends to confuse them. They've already skipped OG DB and said they'll finish with it as an end point so mixing things up more is just confusing.
