So, here is the third analysis from the Silent Hill franchise. Some people love this part even more than the previous one. And also many people say that this was "the last TRUE Silent Hill", and, they are partly right. Let's find out why, shall we?

I had a strange moment in my game. It was in hospital. I was in a dark hallway and the only thing I could hear was some jerky breathing. There was no other sound or music and I was fully packed with ammo and healt... but I was too scared to go forward. I finaly started moving again but then BAM! and the breathing stopped. I was now really scarred. I eventually continue walking and found the door at the end. But I never found out what happend there. Maybe a nurse was stock in a wall trying to get me but ended up killing herself. Never happened to me again.

Diorm same thing kinda happened to me. I was in the other world hospital patient wing. And the sound/noise of the pendulum. But I didn’t/couldn’t see one. So I ran into the first room I could enter. Returned to the hall to find that the noise was gone.

Afaik, that was Stanley Coleman. The guy writing those creepy obsessive letters Heather finds there. In the hospital there are audio cues like heavy breathing and tables/doors crashing to indicate someone is there but there's no way to see since it's going on behind the scenes. That's why if you read the creepy letters afterwards, you hear those noises, the things he says sounds like he is in the same room or area as her, watching her literal every move. It's a small detail but one that blew me away at first and even more when someone else confirmed my thoughts.

I’m not going to lie. The my first play through of Silent Hill 1 and 2 was on the HD collection. I had played it without doing research and it wasn’t a bad experience at all. I only realize the problems now that you mention them but I don’t think those problems affected the feel of the game for someone who unfortunately couldn’t experience the original game. Also I’m super glad I played SH2 with original voices because the new voices are... not the same at all. But I’m super thankful that the HD collection remains on Xbox One so I could experience probably one of the best games ever.

Silent hill two actually plays really well on the Xbox one! Surely originals always the best but people blow it way out of proportion with the HD collection especially if you’re talking about playing the HD collection on the Xbox one??! On PS3 the frame rate was worse as well as each game was glitchy and harder to beat as a result- silent hill 3 for example on the PS3 HD collection, had a glitch when you unlock the unlimited SMG that when you fired it the sound and everything would go haywire and if you kept buying it it would crash the game! This happened on Xbox 360 as well on silent hill3, with the unlimited SMG however they fix that when playing the backwards compatible version on Xbox one!!! I highly recommend the HD collection if that’s the only option you got to play silent hill two and three it’s still totally worth it!

I loved SH3, mostly because of Heather. I felt a real connection with her - although, a lot of her behaviour confused me at times. I didn't question that too much simply because of her f'd up situation, who knows how anyone would react under those circumstances. This game terrified me back when I first played it and I'm surprised to see how clear it looks in this video. I guess the HD version really destroyed a lot of the frightening elements, huh? That's too bad. I guess if I ever play this again, I should use a PS2 emulator and make a ROM of my copy of the game. Anyway, out of all the SH games, I think part 3 is my favourite. Probably because I played this in the right place at the right time. It really stuck with me.

good to see you back,i only beat the third one(first game i was too young to understand and second i never got my hands on) but i do very like the story in 1st and second games because the third one,like you said,continues the story of the other two.I was very sad for hd remake and how it "butchered" the originals.And you mentioned the only place to get remake is removed from the psn store but you can still purchase the disk version can you not,if you have a ps3 that is.Im gonna get original silent hill 1 and 2 for preserving the history of good games so to speak,its just gets expensive because i tend to buy more old/classic games lately-new games just dont do it for me anymore

SH2 was/is Definitely the Best in my opinion.. I think the Pacing of it is better, but not to say that SH3’s progression is not good, just SH2 Flowed all the way through Smoother.. SH3 was a Bit More difficult to Navigate during certain parts of the game which for me, ultimately detracted from the overall experience I would have had that probably would have surpassed SH2?! Like in the subway at the very beginning of the game in SH3, I always hate having a get that part I find it so boring as well as aggravating just having to navigate it it’s bland and I honestly feel they could’ve done something a little better with the beginning part?

SH3 is my favorite mostly because of Heather. When it first came out it immediately caught my attention because it had a female protagonist for the first time, a teenage girl and i was teenage girl myself at the time so i felt a personal connection. Also the OST and graphics are the best for me. I think SH3 is the best looking game of all the ps2 games. It could easily be mistaken for an early ps3 game.

I can say with confidence that the idea that SH 2 and 3 are the cream of the crop when it comes to the series is absolutely correct. While I do like the other games, they all come across as add ons to the original concept. Well, maybe not the first one, but 3 is just a better version of that. If you enjoy the series then they are definitely worth playing and have some excellent locations to explore. However, if you're just looking to cut down to brass tacks and get the definitive Silent Hill experience, then I say you gotta play 2 and 3. Both are essential to the experience. They're like two sides of a coin. 2 has the more melancholic vibe, with a sort of balance between creepy and ambient sections. The story is excellent and the exploration of each of the characters psyche is what separate this entry from all the others. However, there are a couple of things it does not have that 3 takes care of. For one, 3 delves into all the cult stuff that was the original story for Silent Hill, which while not quite as interesting, still gives you a sense of what the franchise was originally meant to be. It's also scarier. 2 has a pervasive creepiness to be sure, but 3 has no problem with being visually terrifying. The depiction of the Otherworld in particular is not only at it's most prevalent, but also it's absolute best in the series. From the bleeding walls and infernal environments, to Valtiel following Heather throughout her journey. The characters are also good. Neither game is really at all related, but both give you a true sense of Silent Hill. 3 gives you the original vision coupled with terror, and 2 shows what Silent Hill can aspire to, with a balance of being creepy and serene but always dangerous!

I played the first and even the first and most basic enemy, the Slasher, was made a lot more scary with the opening scenes where you barely see them but several guards and inmates are killed.

Yes, there are some modes that improve the original games. SH2, SH3 and SH4. I suggest you looking for the whole game on the internet and install it. The most important mod is the Widescreen mod.
