ABDUL DELOATCH I asked Professor Vee that sane question when I was about 15 years old (I’m 52 now), his answer was a combination of a demonstration on how while he was verbally explaining. But in a nut shell Prof. Visitacion said you most likely will not have the chance to effectively execute a technique against such attacks on the very first movements of the aggressor, so Prof Vee had a semi Prof boxer thst was in the class throw boxing combinations at him. Everything from jabs to left and right crosses etc. What Prof Vee did was keep his hands up in front of his face and body and allowed the punches to hit his arms and shoulders while he did his best prevented the boxer from making any serious blows to his head and body.(mind you all this was being done while him full motion). Prof Vee took a “defensive” position and was backing up all the time the boxer was throwing forceful blows and jabs (as prof Vee told the boxer to do). Prof Vee did get caught with a few of the blows but while he was backing up he was able to deflect a lot of the force of the blows. But getting to the main point of the lesson is as Prof Vee was backing up and straight back sometimes circular backing up ....Prof Vee was timing “TIMING” the series of punches from this semi prof boxer and 2 time golden glove winner. When prof Vee picked up on the timing he then “OUT Rhythmed” the boxer and executed a series of super quick strikes to the boxers eyes throat along with super quick short and extremely effective kicks to the boxers shins! Of course Prof Vee followed up with a series of final strikes to vital areas after he gained control. It was FREAKIN MASTERFUL!! Most of all it was REAL! Mind you this was all done in a relatively short period of time! Because afterwards Prof Vee said it must be done this way to quickly out rhythm your opponent even if they’re not a professional fighter, but he said if they are a professional fighter, it’s important to out rhythm and strike quickly and effectively otherwise... Prof Vee said and I quote “The fighter will hurt you very badly”.. OUSSS Professor Visitacion for all your great lessons and all the marvelous students you left to teach your amazing system. Best regards, Sensei Eddie...loyal student of GM Lou Ferrera and Prof. David James. Thanks to them I knew Prof Vee.

I never hear of trained boxers being involved in street altercations as much as the local street punks. Even though their training is sport oriented, boxers train largely for defense then offense, much the same as martial artists. So instigating fights would be a bit rare for either of the two types. People get into altercations for a myriad of reasons. So I'm not saying martial artists will never encounter a fighter of sorts. . . or the other way around. And it is proper that instructors would address the issue as the remedy offered is a simple but profound one. But I just think that case is rare.

L. M. ALG I couldn’t agree with you more. I myself have witnessed it one time in my life as a teenager. It was Betwn my dojo brother and a boxer.. The fight was due in part to a misunderstanding and teenage ego. My dojo brother mind you was the best under-belt fighter in our school (GM Lou Ferrera’s). It was a short but intense one on one battle. At the end they both were able to walk away both with severe lumps. Now check this, 3 days later we bumped into that boxer walking in the street, he walked over to my dojo brother and told him he had mad respect for karate fighters now as the boxer stated he felt like he lost that fight. My dojo brother told him on the contrary, he felt like he lost the fight. I personally thought it almost a draw where I thought the boxer had the upper hand with the series of combinations my brother was hit with. The boxer was hit with a series of powerful kicks, some punches and had been swept off both his feet a couple times and hit the pavement hard before they both pretty much stopped at the same time. After they met few days later and spoke They both hugged it out and gave each other a tone of respect. After that day of the fight we both incorporate a bit of boxing into our training after him feeling and me seeing its explosive effects. Best regards, Sensei Eddie, loyal student of GM Lou Ferrera, Prof David James and Prof. Visitacion.

@tainoaces56044 жыл бұрын
ABDUL DELOATCH we hardly ever videotaped classes (wish we had though) but also that was almost 40 years ago and it was a question I asked Prof. Vee after class was over. It was something he showed us after class was dismissed. But if you can remember how Prof. Vee moved you can pretty much get a visual of how I broke it down. At least I tried to be as descriptive as possible but it can be hard to visualize I’m sure. It’s easier for me cause I saw it... maybe one day our paths will cross and I can show you. But keep in mind these individuals right here in this video you tube clip can definitely break it down for you too!! I grew up admiring all of these individuals and their awesome skills. Stay well sir..

@@tainoaces5604 THAT'S how you train.
@tainoaces56044 жыл бұрын
liecrusher yes sir! I’d like to add that Professor Visitacion incorporated timing and rhythm in all his classes one way or another but as one other person replied, it’s rare that you get 2 disciplined trained fighters (boxing and martial artists) in a street fight. It’s possible but rare, so it’s rare that you see self defense techniques demonstrate with those 2 disciplines against each other in mind. So When the question was presented to Prof Vee and he demonstrated it was quite amazing. Mind you I was 15 years old at the time and had about 6 months of training under my belt so imagine my reaction. But prof Vee was impressive with every technic he ever demonstrated with defenses against unlimited kinds of attacks. Timing and rhythm.....be well.

Possibly but think of the purpose. "In order to blind your opponent ". I'm not a trained fighter but I'm a football Coach and one of the worst things is when people get into changing techniques. There's always purpose and you have to be careful about not realizing that purpose. Sure you may knock the guy out but maybe not. Thay instant of eye irritation is like an eternity when you have been trained enough to know what to do and are good at what to do next. Not saying that adjustments don't work or having options but most times changing a means to an end can threaten you from getting there.

ANGRY 408W you need to Google and read Article 35 of the NYS Penal Law (Use of Physical Force and Use of Deadly Physical Force) In ones defense of self and or Defense of 3rd person. Then you’ll have clarity as your statement is incorrect regarding being the aggressive after the initial block. In a nut shell Police or civilian can use as much physical force or even deadly physical force as Necessary to stop an attack. How does one determine what’s necessary? The person defending themselves must be reasonable and what’s determined as reasonable? That would be based on what would be considered reasonable thinking people coming to same conclusion that the force used was deemed reasonable and necessary. Which ultimately would be decided by a jury of 12 reasonable thinking citizens. Mind you, prior to a civilian using deadly physical force they have to prove that they had no time to retreat or was unable to retreat or can prove they were defending the life of a 3rd person. You can google and read more of the details. But basically it’s like Prof. David James always stated “rather be judged by 12 then carried by 6”. Yes there’s a lot of overkill in these techniques that are being shared. Most teachers like to share that overkill but most teachers also know that it’ll be the first few strikes that will get you home alive. The overkill is shared in case one thing may not have worked you’ve been left with an Arsenal of counter measure technics to get oneself out of a bad situation. Best regards, Sensei Eddie, loyal student of GM Lou Ferrera, Prof. David James and Prof Visitacion. P. S. Ous is a Japanese gesture of Courtesy to ones instructor, fellow students and the dojo. Google that as well if you prefer further meaning of this gesture.
