Robert is a great guy. If you think it is fast on your computer, try standing next to him. I drove out to his home range for two days of private lessons, 1 on 1. Every time he would walk me thru an exercise, by shooting the stage first...I would just laugh. He he is a great teacher, a 10x National IDPA Champ, and more importantly just a great guy. You think this stuff is impressive, you should see him shoot, “The Dice Drill.” Unbelievable.

I He’s exactly correct in his advice. I was taught at a very young age ,’think long think wrong’. I had no idea what that meant at age 8 but as I grew and matured I took my son to the range and then tactical training for father son time and knew what my uncle meant , ‘think too much and you’ll miss the target.’ That’s something that Carrie’s me through life and I use it in all areas of my life. Thing is, not all but some of us are naturals and society tries to strip that instinct and ability using advice that does not apply to you. At the range I saw my son stack rounds at twenty yards. He missed at first until I simply told him he doesn’t have to concentrate, or focus on aim. He simply already knows where the rounds will go and it’s his job to send them there. Once he relaxed he started stacking rounds through one hole. I’m ambidextrous so I can shoot either handed with same accuracy but found even better stacks or small groups with one hand only. Most at our range uses two for stability. My teacher first time thought I was missing the target to which I told him to play the camera back in slow motion to find I was just recycling the same hole. We run timed exercises. Target at twenty yards, firearm on the bench with magazine lying beside it. Clock starts and you pick up the firearm, pick up mag, insert, chamber first round, shoot one round in each lung (human silhouette), one round in between the eyes, remove mag clear gun set both back on bench. This exercise we clocked at 1.7 seconds, my son 2.3 seconds beating the range owners time by 1/10th and 4/10ths respectively. Using a Sig938 custom SAS and to boot a Taurus pt111 G2 mill pro. No mods no red dots no frills. I realize there are two types of shooters. The naturals and the trained. Be warned that you can be a natural , not know it and untrained yourselves by being trained by someone else. Meaning you can be a solid accurate shooter and become worse as your learning. My advice is if you want to know if your a natural or not , simply go to the range supervised , first time you’ve shot a gun, and simply point and shoot. If you hit the target exactly where you wanted to then perhaps you are a natural. If you struggle or bumble around then you know you need only a good trainer. Everyone can be accurate and fast with training but some need only realize they already know where they command the rounds to go and without thinking. Speed trials are fun and the guy in the vid doesn’t even think, he already knows a tenth of a second before where his next round is going. It’s impressive to see true naturals. They are the guys and gals that pop up at two and three gun events with anything and smoke the champs first go around. Fantastic stuff.
@nightsurfer1 Жыл бұрын
Good advice! Thanks! Also I guess I'm a natural. When I bought my first handgun, Taurus G3, and my first time shooting it I was hitting a 6 inch plate at 25 feet over and over again. I got bored really fast. Lol I went to an indoor range once after that and shoot a man-target in the head, neck, and heart at as I wanted to. I got bored again and it's been over a year since then with no shooting. I saw my old comment that's over a year ago, so sounds about the right timeframe. Lol
@thearchitect817 Жыл бұрын
@@nightsurfer1 Sounds like your one of us. It’s a gift and you can utilize it for more than just shooting. If I’m right you can use a bow just as good. You may also be an artist or southpaw like most with this gift. Doesn’t matter because you got it and avoid any input that hinders your ability. Your different than them. Keep that.
@nightsurfer1 Жыл бұрын
@@thearchitect817 Lol... Yuppers good at bow too. I used the traditional bow. I pull with my left hand though. No practice needed and could hit a Coke can easily within 30 feet. Got bored with it too. Good at slingshots as well, even using a rock instead of BBs. I guess I won't go hungry in an apocalypse. 😂

El Guapo was the nickname for Manuel Noriega. He was the dictator of Panama. The United States military invaded Panama in 1989 and arrested/captured Noriega on charges of drug trafficking and money laundering. El Guapo means Mr Handsome (or words to that effect). It was a backhanded insult because he had a pockmarked face. 3Amigos was released in 1986. Noriega was ruler of panama since 1983. Hard to say which was first.

I was talking to my 86 year old dad yesterday. He was an ROTC sharp shooter, and shot his whole life. He could hit anything with any gun fast, fast, fast. So yesterday, he told me, "I have a sight picture burned in my head. I don't have to think, when my gun presents me with a picture that matches the one in my head, I pull the trigger. Most of the time, I don't realize I pulled it!" I'd always thought, it was about getting used to acquiring the sight picture quickly, but now, I'm thinking, by already have the sight picture, my dad was ahead of the game!
