My husband is 65 I'm 70 and we raise our two grandchildren. I totally understand how it is. We are blessed with four children and two grandchildren so far. Yes it's God's will and totally a blessing I our lives. I have chronic illness so it does have its challenges but wouldn't have it any other way. My husband attends mass every day to pray for strength for our family. ❤

My siblings and I are the exact same makeup, four girls, one boy in the same order as these children. Most days I wouldn't trade any of them for anything. I'm 61! It is beautiful that Debbie and Tom were willing and able to keep these children together.

We are raising(have custody)our 3 grands from infancy to now, 11months, 6yrs, 9yrs(and our 13yr son + 3 grown girlsout of house). As the situation is not ideal(drugs/homeless)with our daughter and the state will not let her keep babies when they have drugs in their system. Praise God He has given us wisdom to take/raise these precious eternal beings. 62 and 57 = tired! I homeschool them as well. So good for me to hear of other grandparent's experiences.

Love this. We had to take custody of our grand daughter for a couple of years . There was never a question of not doing it. My three girls and my 4 grand kids are everything. I will always help them and others and teach them to do the same . A couple of my life rules I instill in my family. 1. CHOOSE happiness. Every day is a gift. 2. Be of service to your fellow man and community .

Rule number 3. I never go anywhere, where there is something bigger than me that wants to EAT ME . Not ever going to be shark bait… or a bear snack, won’t catch me anywhere that snakes, alligators and crocodiles are . Nope not doing it .

We too are raising our granddaughter and it takes energy only God can give. Like you we are so grateful. I learned late that if you're on Social Security and are raising grand children, each are entitled to half your monthly SS. It was a huge financial help . . .daycare, sports, larger home (we had a retirement home). Please, if you haven't visited Social Security please do. I thought it was too good to be true, but with birth certificates and adoption papers, financial support is there. God Bless.

It probably depends on what state you’re in. I’m in California and they receive approximately $900 a month per child. If there are special needs the payout it goes up to $1400, approximately

Yes, I also have adopted my granddaughter and we both get Social Security. I’m 65 and she is 7 now. I’ve had her since she was 3 months old. It was a sad situation but what a blessing we have been for each other. She gives me a reason to get up every morning. She wakes up with a smile and joy in her heart every day. ☺️💖

When God gives you a calling or assignment, he always makes it "easy" for you and provides. I found the same to be true with managing my fathers 24/7 skilled care. It's as though he lifts you up and you ride on his guidance, like a magic carpet. When its over its very clear who God is....he is love and a generous and kind empathetic protective father.
