Fun fact: the double bounce green shells actually are in the code of vanilla SMW. They're unused in the actual game though. But they're available in lunar magic just like any other vanilla sprite.

For me, it's kinda like a scale. If I'm super early in a game and it only tells me where to go a single time, alright, I can probably figure it out. But if I'm in late game and have access to the entire map, and it only says once, fuck that. It's like the further into the game you go, the less likely I am to be okay with being told only once.

It's when you mess up a jump that I think, jeezz, that was sooo obvi... Hang on... I would be practicing shell jumps for days to just to beat the first level. You make this look so easy :D It really is much muscle memory, Poo. You can read those jumps because the actual jumping and timing is muscle memory, giving you time to look. Or in other words: you make this look easy because you're really that good, it's not just you saying that.

August, 1998, was the last release of NESticle. Even at that point, roughly a year and a half after it's initial release, it was outdated. Still a very performant emulator on the single-thread single-core ~33MHz processors of the era, the theft of it's source code wasn't something the developer took very lightly. It's legacy lives on to this day however, as it essentially introduced emulation to the masses. The entirety of cloud computing, hardware virtualization, even the EverDrive you played this hack on can have it's origins traced back in some way to NESticle.
