Why do people on the west coast always put plywood under the granite. Seems like an unnecessary expense.

The granite is 2cm on the west coast and 3cm on the east coast and much of the Midwest so a su too is necessary for support.

It depends on the stone porosity and application. There ate not a lot of differences between penetrating sealers nowadays.

This granite is definitely not what people are looking for right now. It’s Baltic Brown. But overall granite is much better than any other counter surface. It’s a better choice than quartz, concrete, and other solid surface. Some higher end materials will give you a great look but are much more expensive.
