I love the shot of the cattle being moved in the beginning. A swimming bear... yikes! I bet the rock wall behind that fire warmed the area up real well. Beautiful scenery that's for sure. A nice mix of flat open land and trees and mountains.

That was the first time I've seen a bear swim! What really surprised me was just how fast it was moving!

Wow, fantastic backpacking trip! I laughed at the end when I saw the great meal and remember those well. After the long ones we ate like we hadn't seen food in months. I just know that the waitresses and the folks sitting around us thought that we would never eat all we had ordered but we always did. haha! Man, you guys had it all, good friends, wonderful scenery and some great canine company. It doesn't get much better than that! Thanks for showing us that beautiful country and filming your wonderful journey. :) :)

It's weird for days on trail I could barely eat anything.... nothing in my pack was appetizing, but as soon as we get off of trail, I'm eating everything..🤷‍♀️ Thanks for watching!

I remember back when I was young and didn't think of injuries (and recovered much faster if they did occur) and would hop through a boulder field like that excitement. Now that I've firmly turned the 50 corner, I get what you are putting down.

20 miles or so from the trailhead too.... not the best place to get hurt. But yeah, my goal is to live to hike another day!

This is fantastic! I'm only half way through and running late for work so I'll have to finish later today. I just love this area. Red Lodge and the Beartooth's were my introduction to hiking/camping the Rockies back in '83. I graduated from Forestry school, sold everything I owned except my tent & sleeping bag, broke my lease with my dirt bag landlord and headed west. Spent a few days hiking and camping around Beartooth pass, went back to Red Lodge and said "yep, this is where I want to be"....Ha, the Universe stepped in and said we have other plans for you young man.

Great journey. Nice to see your group had the time to chill and enjoy your surroundings. The stay at Granite Lake was inspiring, I love sunsets. I'm sure the dogs enjoyed your journey as well. Glad you did not have to deal with grizzlies. Stay safe and keep up the travels.

Thanks so much for taking me (us) along on this epic outing. You somehow manged to edit 8 days down to 45 minutes and you did a great job. Someone else mentioned the music and I want to add my thumbs up for that as well. I think I heard Flaco Jimenez on the Accordion at one time too! You have some impressive connections, sir. Can't say enough about your trip and the scenery. I"m going to watch it again tonight in front of a nice warm fire. I'm so sentimental about that area and it was great being able to see you guys going so deep into it. (Rick Flair couldn't make it??) Take care and thanks again, Tom

I'm not sure Rick Flair leaves the Cabinets.. 😂 I've been lucky enough to play with some incredible musicians! Even more lucky to capture some of their handy work on this music. Watching the videos next to a warm fire sounds like the right way to do it!

Awesome video and trek, man! I was waiting eagerly for this episode! I could learn a thing or two from the gourmet meals that are packed a long instead of my KRAFT mac-n-cheese every night other night lol. Camp 3 looked very relaxing. Once again, awesome documentation on your guys' trek through my favorite area in the country!

@@mountainwanderer You went at the best time of year. Grizzly sightings used to be rare on that side of the range. Not the case this year. One followed some hikers to their car at the trailhead you were at. Probably the one you saw. Unfortunately it's sibling was euthanized earlier this year.
@mountainwanderer
@mountainwanderer 2 жыл бұрын
That is too bad about the bear that had to be euthanized. I don't think that I've ever been to a trailhead with so many warning signs for bears! Normally they are just at the trailhead sign, but there were signs on the highway!

I'm glad that these videos can, somewhat, fill the gap for the time being. Honestly it's one of the reasons I keep posting videos. I hope that for the people who cannot get out there anymore, or just can't get out - right now - that they can see some mountains and the beauty (and watch some of the pain) and it can bring them some joy or just be entertained for a few minutes.

Me and my wife was up in that area a few years ago. Looks flat on a topo map, but there was a lot of up and down. Found three trails not on the maps. One over rise behind Native Lake, and two to Hidden Lake. I did not always know where I was. Fished everywhere and quite successful. But it kicked my wife’s ass

Yes! We thought this would be an easier trip because looking on a map, it's fairly flat. Not the case! I really loved the amount of water everywhere and how easy it is to go cross-country.
