I met Branden last night at Matt's Saloon and I was in awe that there before me stood a true hero. I felt such an overwhelming sense of compassion for him and a desire to tell him how amazing he is. When I approached him, his eyes were like sunlight peering through the darkest of clouds. I asked if I could just say thank you, I hugged him and carried on. I will never understand how he feels, but I believe he is grateful yet ready to become part of the community he loves and supports.

God Bless this man, God Bless :/ I hope the Lord gives him strength, and all his brothers who were lost on that day, are looking down on him with the love they shared together on earth. GOD BLESS this man.

I feel like the outpouring of love, compassion and desire to help is a tremendous thing, but it seems to wear on the soul when you are constantly approached and acknowledged. In a way, the "fame" surrounding the trade by has taken its toll, in my opinion only. He seemed very grateful for the support and in no way bothered by my approach. I will forever keep him, his family and the risen heroes in my prayers. Thank you branden for your kindness and compassion!

We were the last in person civilians/hikers to see and speak to Hot Shots on 6-30-13.As the weeks unfold-This has been difficult for us to realize the men we saw and spoke to were the 19 that died.Our hearts and prayers go out to you all that are hurting-things happened beyond anyone's control-we witnessed the sudden change in wind & the fast fierceness of the fire.Those were all brave men.We salute them as heroes.
