Why do you need to go reversing at first?

I had attempted doing this service a few times and the adhesion didn't allow me to finish this journey without stalling by just going forward. So I needed more momentum to make sure I don't stall on the 1.5% gradient by reversing back a bit. This was similar to the CRR Extra 3016 journey mode service in Clinchfield.

The trick is to be able to get to power level 6 without wheel slip because as soon as that happens the train slows down. In this situation, you'll need to be doing about 15 MPH for that once the 15MPH speed restriction goes away. From there you can accelerate up to max power. The running start allows the train to get there before it gets up the 1.5% slope too far.
