I was thinking the same thing with a 9 string. Is that double drop b? Not even sure what it’s called at that point lol.

yeah and he plays it on 6 string live haha

Does anyone know in what order he tunes each string on a 6 string?

Sleep Token is really beginning to get under my skin, that atmosphere is just phenomenal, extremely beautiful song and nice mellow first half with the muted strings Wauw. And the contrast with the heavy riffs in the end, is just worldclass, and they need to be way BIGGER imo. The cover was 100% spot on 10/10 on this one. I am a FAN!!! It's my favorite off of Take Me Back To Eden. The fact they use Drop B an whole octave lower and it sounding this good amazes me.

Wonder if I should buy a 7 string or 8 to play such songs. Probably 8.

I thought it was on 9 strings at first. The low string is tuned to B lol.

Sounds great. Is Whammy that much better than pitch shifting vsts? I tried lowering by 5 semitones from Drop A with VSTs and it sounded like shit, especially when playing 2 strings
@TheEternalFlavour Жыл бұрын
Vsts usually doesn't sound good, the archetype: Gojira whammy might be good though, but I usually transpose after inside Studio One with their built-in function if tuning changes in the middle of the song, other than that it's all the whammy pedal
@davex134310 ай бұрын
I know this is an old comment but in case anyone finds it useful - for real time pitch shifting the DT Whammy pedal pretty much can't be beat. For VSTs, the only 2 I've managed to get sounding halfway decent are the built-in transpose with some Neural Archetypes (Rabea, Petrucci) - the actual knob on the GUI, not the pedal emulator And also the Poly Capo effect in the latest Line6 Helix Native plugin - this one especially is damned good sounding, and can even pitch down full chords beyond -5 semitones before any artefacts appear. In addition to this, the order of your chain makes a big difference. Always put the pitch shifter in front of any pedal/amp/cab sims so you're only pitching the raw DI. Also I always find putting some EQ and heavy compression /before/ the pitch shifter to get the sound as crisp and even as possible before shifting it greatly reduces that wobble sound which a lot of VST shifters have. I know these plugins are expensive AF, but they do have free trials so you can check out which one(s) work best for you. And then there's also other ways which I won't necessarily advertise here... 👀 glhf

Which effect did you use on the natural harmonic (2:37)?
@TheEternalFlavour Жыл бұрын
I just played regular harmonics like in the tab, I have no idea how they create those sounds, they use them quite often, my best guess is super edited harmonics
@GrunesMannchen Жыл бұрын
@@TheEternalFlavour I think this sound is just the 24th fret on the high-b-string and the 20th fret on the high-e-string on an 8 string in this tuning. Might be edited a bit but i dont think its a harmonic
@TheEternalFlavour Жыл бұрын
@@GrunesMannchen That could also be it, but it seems too hard to play that consistently, so I think they do some kind of studio magic, would be nice to know from them what they do, since they use them often
That part has always sounded like when you pluck the higher strings (thinner ones) up past the nut to get the "bell" tone. Then they've just layered that to hell and back, plus a lot of compression and saturation to make it sound big and loud.

on the video said, 10 semitones down, but is 11 semitones starting from DROP A, right? sorry i'm losttttt
@TheEternalFlavour4 ай бұрын
So my guitar is tuned to Drop A, and it is pitch shifted 10 semi-tones down to Double Drop B, 11 would be A#/Bb!

Yea just mix both parts of a digitech whammy, you can go down 3 octaves if you wanted to
