Yes! Traditions are everything… I should make this for my brother. My mom made it in the summertime when we had so many blackberries. I even remember the pot she used. He loves blackberries, thanks for the memory Chels ❤️

I never would have thought to do berries and dumplings. This looks phenomenal. I some frozen fruit that's dying to be used up. As my honey goes through chemo and radiation, this will be something comforting. He loves my dumplings. That begs for homemade whipped cream. Thank you so much. ❤😊

So it is like a sweetened (and buttered) Stewed Fruit with dumplings 😊 Looks good! My grandma was from Czecheslovakia. Recipies were what you made and kept in your head. Taste and available Ingredients, made the Day's Creation. Even baked goods and Cakes were by basic Standard items: flour, eggs, yogurt/sour cream/milk, yeast, salt, water. Fruit, Nuts, Seeds, Dried Flowers, Compote or Fruit Butters, Dried Fruits, Spices. Voila! Beautiful and Yummy!

I cook the same way as you. I go by taste most of the time rather than measurements. My measurements are approximately! lol. And it usually turns out great. When I try new recipes many times I add what I think it needs anyway to meet my tastes.

I only use canned biscuits for dumplings, that's the way my great-aunt taught me so that's what I do. I don't think I've ever had 'homemade' dumplings.
