This is TRUE. In 1996, I was a 6th grade student in San Antonio, TX. At a book fair I bought a book titled “How to Contact your Favorite Sport Star.” In this book it had an address for Mr. Hill. I wrote Grant Hill. I asked for a signed autograph picture. About 4 months passed. One day I came home from school, and my Grandma said, “mijo, you have mail.” It was from Mr. Grant Hill. I was so happy and excited! He is and will always be my favorite NBA player. Mr.Hill, THANK YOU SO MUCH. I hope you get to read this comment. It is 100000000000% TRUE!!

Grant Hill is the definition of class and sportsmanship. The guy carried himself with dignity and grace on and off the court, was a walking triple double along with Jason Kidd and was the player after MJ who everyone in the league believed would carry the NBA for years because the way he conducted himself and with his talent. The guy was a true super-star in the 90's and even after the ankle surgeries that almost killed him on the operating table he bounced back and became mentors for younger players and was still able to defend the best in the league even after losing his explosiveness and became a important role player for that Phoenix franchise. A true champion, but unfortunately there are a lot of trash leaving comments that ruins the moment.

Grant Hill dated my neighbor, Susie, his senior year of high school. Me and my friends were all skateboarders and had the whole neighborhood street filled with ramps. He would sometimes sit on the curb and watch us. I remember having a conversation down at the neighborhood dock, where we’d swim in the lake. Him and Susie were asking me questions about my older sister, who was a bit of a troublemaker. We were so busy admiring skateboarders that we didn’t really understand how good he was until the following year when he made the cover of SPorts Illustrated. He started flowing the South Lakes High School basketball team Fila gear. The school actually sold a chocolate bar with his name on it as a fund raiser. I always wished Grant could have reached his full potential AND won a few championships, but I’m happy that he conducted himself as a gentlemen and he played well when healthy.. and later, even some slick dunking in his late 30’s!

@Pablo Harris A whole lot of these Gen Z kids have no idea how awesome Hill was when he played for the Pistons. When Jordan did his first retirement and people asked him, "Who is the next MJ or great player?" he answered, "Grant Hill". In an era that was all about defense he was that constant triple double threat; they were much harder to get back then. He was also the prototypical "Point Forward". Before LeBron and Giannis, Hill was 6'8" player with handles and court vision mixed with world class athleticism.

Played in pick-up games against Grant when he was still a teenager at SLHS, often at the Twin Branches court in Reston. Even at 15-16 yrs old he was damn near impossible to guard. He dunked on me a couple of times before I realized who he was, forcing me to raise my game defensively. He didn't get a third, but even then you could tell he was special and would probably end up playing in the NBA.

Coming out of Sweden, I came into basketball in 96-97 before the internet was what it was... I remember the VHS tapes of Jordan, Shaq, Kemp, Iverson and Grant Hill among few others to choose from in video stores... Then getting more and more into the NBA with magazines and NBA Action episodes, and then Grant Hill getting injured like that... The respect never got away, I always knew who and what he was. And here we are today. The HoF status is perfect, everything is right in the world in regards to what Grant Hill has been to the world
