Superman also does not really kill, but I think Batmans "no kill rule" is more emphasized on, and I agree with Grant it makes for a more compelling character, even his dynamic with Jason as well as Damian especially in the beginning. The sad part of it is if wb/dc asked Rian Johnson or James Gunn, Ryan Coogler, or Christopher McQuarrie to write and direct MoS in 2009, I guarantee, guarantee, any one of them would have said yes and the whole dceu disaster would have been avoided and it would've easily competed with mcu. Snyder and his fans specialize in feeling entitled to characters they never understood in the 1st place. The drive bye shooter, torture and mutilation Batman in Snyderverse is problematic because he is not in fact a hero. He is just a frustrated, self entitled, wealthy violent murdering thug and the sane response of city, state and national government would be to apprehend him and bring him to justice. (sanity doesn't exist in SnyderVerse as the 'heroes' do what they want and the response of the rest of societies pointless loser red shirts is to stand around in awe) His refusal to obey and respect the law under this context then turns him not into a hero, or an anti hero but a villain. Basically he isn't Batman anymore - he's Rorschach from Watchman. A delusional psychopath. Of course Snyder doesn't know the difference between hero, anti hero, vigilante and villain and neither do his fans.

I always liked the idea that Batman struggled with the idea of killing. He knows that his job would be easier if he just killed the villains and he didn't ever have to fight them again. But he is also aware of the darkness inside of him and that if he did start killing he would have trouble drawing a line at how bad a person had to be before he killed them. He knows that if he started killing the worst villains that he would end up killing them all and become the kind of monster that he is trying to stop. He doesn't kill villains so he doesn't become one.

If Batman killed he would get very upset, and that's what Nolan brought to the big screen, it was brilliant. Batman can also be very emotional. That's another thing Nolan brought to the big screen. Just go watch Batman: The Animated Series and the Justice League Animated shows. It shows it all.

Here's the thing I accepted the fact that Batman turned to the dark side due to the death of Robin and started to kill in BvS (not EVERYTHING has be comic accurate since this is its own universe afterall) BUT post-JL onwards he should've been redeemed and started over again after finding new hope in the world due to his new found trust in Superman who helped him see that their's a better way. To me, if Batman is a killer then he's just a much more dangerous version of the Punisher with a super hero costume IMO.

You need to read that book again because Batman doesn't kill Darkseid, he dies to an omega beam. Flash was responsible for getting Darkseid shot with the radion bullet but that didn't kill him either. Superman "kills" Darkseid by singing in a frequency that obliterates him but Darkseid exists outside of space and time so he always comes back.

The original Batman in the comics back in 1939 and 1940 killed almost every villain. The no kill rule was introduced because of censorship.

​@@Mr.Marvelouss Adam West didn't kill anybody in the bomb scene. The whole point of the scene was Batman making sure no one got hurt by the bomb. If you wanted to argue that he killed someone in that movie you could use the scene where the Penguin thugs get reduced to antimatter by Batman and Robin hitting them. Although even then no one in that situation knew that Penguin rehydrated the henchmen incorrectly and that any physical contact was going to be fatal.
