Hi I'm Grant's Sister (Alli),
Grant (senior at Hopkins High School) is truly genuine soul. He brings joy into our day-to-day lives and always manages to get a smile on your face. He's the student manager of the Hopkins boys basketball team and has been for 3 years. He carries so much pride and joy with that task. Grant loves being a part of the basketball team even though he can't play himself he still supports them and they in return support him in everything he does. Grant is like a brother to the whole basketball team. No matter what he can always find the positives in a situation. Even though Hopkins did not win the championship game Grant was still so thrilled to be at the Target Center and to have won 2nd place (and also getting a medal himself made him ecstatic). Grant knows that 2nd place is still a big deal and takes a lot of hard work. "...from where Grant stood the team did not disappoint." - Lyndsey Seavert Kare 11. Kare 11 and Star Tribune came to our house Sunday night to get their hands and microphones on the story. They both said how inspired they were about Grants reaction. Chip Soggens from Star Tribune said he watched the award ceremony and afterwards he could not stop thinking about Grants reaction. He told us he woke up the next morning and he had to write a story on him. After the game Grant went viral. Everyone was saying things like "That's what it's all about". Then after the show on Kare 11 on 3/16/14 it got bigger. People from Hopkins High School started the hash tag #getgrantonellen . Since a hash tag can make everything bigger it exploded again. I was amazed when I saw that #getgrantonellen was trending on twitter. It is truly amazing what is possible. I have not heard anything from Ellen DeGeneres but myself and everyone else is hoping for a response. I'm proud to call Grant my brother.
Thank you for reading and watching!
Love,
Alli Petersen
