I moved away from Grantham nearly ten years ago after spending my entire childhood there. It’s so strangely emotional seeing it all again, it completely different but exactly the same

@@remijunior9256uh, it’s always been that way. We only live here for the quiet - travel out for everything else!

Gosh, I can't recognize Grantham anymore except Newton Square and the reddish building at the back where my GP had his practice. It would have been lovely to see Manthorpe Road leading to the hospital. I trained as a nurse there 40 years ago. Met and married my husband there. Thank you for this lovely video

Manthorpe hasn’t changed much. The only differences with the hospital is that the Victorian building to the front is being left to rot.

Eyy, my town. I’m not Grantham born and bred (thank God), but compared to the many dung holes across the UK now, Grantham is the place for a consistently quiet life. I call it ‘the hub’ for travelling out in all directions for the best of all things (Lincoln, Nottingham, Boston, London, Sheffield etc.) You won’t get an NHS dentist here though. And you’ll regret buying a house as a London jobber, as there’s no social life for you. 😂

I live in Grantham right now it's not that boring
@pumpkinpatch57 ай бұрын
Yeah, I mean, it’s a quiet place, but most of us travel out for work, shopping and socialising anyway. I call Grantham ‘the hub’. A middling place to shoot to Notts, Boston, Lincoln, London and Sheffield easily.

Nice town walk. St. Wulframs Church looks amazing. Was trying to spot the Apple tree under which Sir Isaac Newton discovered the gravity ;)
@4KExplorer3 жыл бұрын
Ah yes! Although I believe the tree is in the nearby village where he was born.
@pumpkinpatch57 ай бұрын
The tree is outside of Grantham in Newton’s childhood home.

is it a good place to live I want to live here for house prices, local schools and commuting to London in just over an hour
@pumpkinpatch57 ай бұрын
@@kets4443It’s a quiet place to live if you’re in one of the nice neighbourhoods. The town is nice during the day (with many shut down shops) but drug dealers hide in some of the central abodes. If you come to live here, you won’t get an NHS Dentist as their books are closed and trying to get time with a doctor is a real challenge. The London connection is great, but the trains sometimes run late or are replaced by buses. The house prices are also going up in the nicest neighbourhoods of Barrowby and Manthorpe. Most people live here for a chill life, but travel out for work, shopping, socialising and now dental work. Local schools are very choosy about who joins them. The local hospital is also reduced, so if you have a heart attack, it’s 45 mins on the road to Notts, Lincoln or Boston. I hope that’s a realistic view for you. I moved here in 1994 when I was a child.
