This one was a real nail-biter. After placing 2nd in the prelims by a mere 2/10 of a point, word has it, Director Lewis Norfleet gave quite the inspiring, positive, "halftime locker-room" speech. And taking the field, just as the cold rain began to fall, his band was ready and determined to give the performance of their lives. And that they did.
Of the top high school marching bands in all of Oregon and Washington, little Grants Pass took the top prize for the 7th year in a row!
Thank you to the University of Oregon for hosting and sponsoring this great event. And thank you to Ridgeline High School and all the other great bands for making it such a great and tight competition.
To Lewis & Noreen Norfleet, Color Guard Director, Lucy Ireland, Booster President, Misty Whorley, and the countless other directors, staff, volunteers and... especially the band and guard students... Congratulations! You've earned this. You deserve it.
Onward!
