Funny how that grape swung back and forth like it was on a fulcrum when she let go.
@HolyBruh123Ай бұрын
Yes it called the fruit fulcrum and it's sway is measured in peelions, which stems from the Latin word, peelisioso. The thicker the skin, the more peelions. But be careful because if you leave it for long enough it creates a peelion pendulum, where it releases all its stored energy into one last swing, which can destroy your sink and plumming system. Please be berry careful. Money doesn't grow on trees, unlike fruit.

They will. They are floating by the same logic you can float a golf ball on a powerful jet of air. The water or air wraps around it linearly and the force of the water jetting off the back mirrors and equals the force of he water above, and traps it with momentum against gravity. It looks weird as heck but yes, it's possible with any fluid. How big you'd need to build a pitch experiment to levitate something remains unclear however.
@strygwrАй бұрын
jetstream can ulift but how is it lifting?
@bogdanboiii1154Ай бұрын
@@glenmcgillivray4707dude using technical terms without understanding their meaning does not make you look smart. The difference between the floating golf ball experiment and this is the direction of fluid flow. You could perhaps create a wing which is partially in the stream, to balance the forces, but you could certainly not do it with a symmetrical grape fruit
@glenmcgillivray4707Ай бұрын
@@bogdanboiii1154 direction is irrelevant, the mass flows and forces hold the golf ball steady regardless of the direction of the jet of air. I literally did a classroom physics experiment where we measured the velocity and direction of the air jet to confirm how and why. It's just hard to persuade water to flow in upwards directions to get the effect to work on an upward 45 degree jet without it going too turbulent. I remember the physics even if certain details elude me.

If youd like to know how this works, you must first preheat your grapes to 500° f/260° c. Once youve done that part, find and select the most symmetrical grape. When you put in in the stream, the equally rounded sides create lift like the wings on a plane. The heat is for the water to boil almost instantly which causes a layer of steam around the grape and since water is much heavier than steam, this symmetrical grape with a steam barrier combination causes the grape to hover.

Actually, this is an easily reproducible phenomenon that depends upon inducing a retro-rotational action in the object and then relying upon the uniquely textured, lightly waxed (hydrophobic) surface of the grape to shed water thus allowing it to significantly resist or redirect the downward push of the water and maintain it's centrifugal position through spin.

@MyPulseworx the waxy surface expells water giving it upward force from the water beneath it. However the force of the water coming down would over power any upward force the grape may have and be pushed into the sink. This is fake
@PercyrippedАй бұрын
So yeah this has actually been known for years...nasa back in the 60s did experiments on this phenomenon. Apparently due to surface tension and the hydrophobic nature of the grape skin. The grape acheives a suspended state due to wster flowing over, aroundz and pushing up at the bottom. Physics is crazy and thats why i love science so much!

It's called "Bernoulli's Principle". You can do the same thing with a balloon or even a table tennis ball over a heater vent when it's blowing.
@anthonymancini3372Ай бұрын
I was thinking the same thing. I’m pretty sure you would need an aerator on the faucet (which most do) creating an air pocket above the grape giving it upward lift. I’m not a physics major but it makes sense to me.
@RLocksleyАй бұрын
@@anthonymancini3372 lol ... I'm no physics major either (in fact, I'm what most would consider the opposite of "formally educated"), but Bernoulli's Principle states, essentially, that objects move from areas of high pressure to low pressure. The medium could be gas or liquid, but if the pressure is low enough, an object will move toward it. Even though this grape trick only works if you have what's known as "high-pressure water systems", it's kind of counter-intuitive because high-pressure water systems (municipal water, generally) pull this trick off more successfully than low-pressure systems (well water systems). Bernoulli's Principle is why airplanes can fly: the cross-section shape of the wings (flat on the bottom, slightly bulging on the top) creates low pressure above the wing, which literally "sucks" the wing into the sky.
@anthonymancini3372Ай бұрын
@@RLocksley yes, I am very familiar with Bernoulli’s Principle. I am thinking that the aerator creates an air pocket above the grape thus, creating a low pressure zone above the grape creating lift. That lift in conjunction with gravity and the downward force of the water keeps the grape suspended in the flowing water.
@RLocksleyАй бұрын
@@anthonymancini3372 Could be! Like I said, I'm the opposite of formally educated. I left school at 16, and only learned about Bernoulli's Principle when I got my pilot's license, so, yeah, maybe the aerator is necessary to achieve the effect. If a physics major could chime in here, that would be great.

This does actually work! But not with water. If you blow air at a correctly bouyant/volume sphere it will *float* in the air through the way the currents make it spin. My first experience with it was at an enchanted castle and later on in life found a few cool KZbin videos that van and will explain the property 1000x better than I can
@williamhicks558Ай бұрын
I saw that in a physics class. But the air is flowing up, not down. It floats because as gravity pulls it down, the airflow around it becomes asymmetrical, with the air flowing faster and lowering the pressure on the upper side and that forces it back.
