Ok wow… Ever since my discovery journey to NCT rabbit hole, I knew Mark was one to watch out and the fact he is the talented musical genius, but WOW. I wish this wasn’t just a solo song and he had a whole album 😭 This song was relatable on so many different levels… I really do hope he is happy with what he put out but also hope he is healthy and happy not just physically but mentally as well.
I loved this song. that’s all i have to say.

He left his family at 13 years old to train at SM. He debuted at the age of 16 at NCT then not even a couple months later he debuted twice via DREAM and 127. I think that by him saying, "I'm a child" is that while he was still a child he was already starting to drown by people's expectations of him. He's having feelings such as disappointments and doubts whether he had lived up to people's expectations of him. With the following lines such as " Oh I Oh I Oh I as I hurry" "Oh I Oh I Oh I I'm getting lame at this" is him doubting himself. I really adore his hard work and ethic, there's only so much things we can do as fans.

I agree! Plus, his line about him being like the Earth constantly revolving around his dreams can be a great thing but is also a curse, at least that's how I understood it at the first listen

I don't know if Mark is feeling the way the lyrics portrayed in here these days but he said that he wrote Child a long time ago. and he's always been happy and giggly as what we've seen. but as the saying goes, the happiest people in the world are those who feel absolutely terrific about themselves. nonetheless, I'm just so proud of him.

he was only 17 when debuted in literally 3 units and being the leader of nct dream. he’s a role model. he won trainee of the year (the most hardworking trainee) every single year in SM. he won most favorite trainee voted by staffs too. and when SM showcased him for the first time, people called him the first decent SM Rapper. like SM finally has A RAPPER. it’sa compliment but ofc a pressure too. people have a lot of expectations for him. i remember he joined a survival show ‘High School Rapper’ back then. and that is a show that every mark’s fans won’t rewatch because of how harsh they are to mark as an idol rapper. people have this stereotype that idol rapper can’t really rap. so the amount of prejudice was wild for him. he was juggling between nct 127, nct dream, nct u schedules too when at the same time the program was aired. so it was a hard time. but the members said he never stopped practicing like every second. some members even cried watching him on that show. knowing how much he struggled. a korean couple youtuber who is lucky enough to make a content with nct dream last year was crying when she told us how endearing mark lee is. she said he was just a baby leading another babies but he took care of them so well. like even when the situation is super tiring, he kinda made it fresh again. yes the most interesting thing about this song is that the person who is always laugh, always spread positive energy, always have beautiful mind, also have their own struggle. this song was made long time ago, originally he wanted to release this at the end of 2021 as the gift for his fans. having mark in literally every units last year have been a blessing for us. but he acknowledged how much money, time, energy the fans poured to support him. that is why he released this under SM Station, so the fans can enjoy it comfortably without any burden to buy albums or maybe try to get him win on music shows. he’s so thoughtful.

Mark as much he is loved gets much hate as well (ig it comes with popularity as well) , he is called SM's fav , lines and screentime stealer etc , he had the busiest year last year and he faced many difficulties so he wrote this song about it as well as for markfs( mark's fandom name) too who have helped and are were always there for him

This song lets us see into Mark's psyche, and wow, is it deep! He carries a lot of weight, being one of the few English speakers in SuperM, NCT Dream, and NCT 127, as well as a lead rapper and one of the main faces of the NCT brand. His personality demonstrates a lot of flexibility (he is laid back and doesn't let himself worry about unnecessary things) in a difficult and highly competitive industry, and yet that doesn't mean that there aren't inner struggles that he holds with him! I honestly never thought abut the expectations and responsibilities he is told he must carry, and this song makes me respect him a ton more. I am so glad that SM gave him the chance to compose this and show it to the world, and I can't wait for more NCT Lab compositions from other NCT artists! Thanks for giving us your honest opinions!

I love the vibe in this song (which he wrote most of years ago) of thinking aloud, like he's working out his thoughts on the page/in the verse. As a writer myself, it's the best catharsis to let all the thoughts spill out and then take them and work them into something new. Not exactly what I started with but a plant that grew from the compost of my life... does that make sense... random thoughts ;) Anyway, Mark has always been an thoughtful and deep kind of writer and he really speaks about something so relatable here, finding who you are are, responding to expectations, growing into the person you want to be. I love how the end has the slight life in tone and the beautiful chords like a hopeful way forward. Everyone feels these things sometimes and this song is going to really reach out and touch many people.

“SM Entertainment’s “NCT LAB” Will Let NCT Members Release Their Own Original Work” - NCT LAB, which will be a project similar to SM Station that will give all the members of NCT the opportunity to release their own original projects, whether as soloists or as different units. Maybe those solo projects from them in the past will not be included since its a new project from SM. But for sure all of the members will showcase their individuality here. This may be way out to left field but I always relate to Mark in a HUGE way. I don’t know if it’s cus he was raised here or whatever but that phrase “Can anyone understand me” is often taken as “People just don’t understand me” but that’s never never how I apply it. It’s just EXCTLY how it’s written…with the question mark at the end. “Where is this coming from? Why is this _____ provoking this _____ reaction in me? Why do I seem to be getting worse at _____? What’s the answer??? If anyone knows will they PLEASE TELL ME SO I CAN PRODCE A SOLUTION!!!!!!!!! 😡😡😡🥵” It can get so overwhelming you REALLY want to blow sometimes (when I was his age). I wonder if he factored in (or even knows) that the reason propane in itself is so deadly is because it’s odourless…undetectable. If they didn’t add that smell to it then if it was leaking/about to blow you’d never know it.

Greetings from Hawaii! Thank you for your thoughtful reflections on Mark’s song. The comparison of Mark’s outfit to a mirror ball didn’t even occur to me! But I think you’re right. Because he has so much exposure and is often in the spotlight, he can never truly get away from public opinion and criticism. There was even a scene of him running away, but a trail of red smoke was coming from his backpack. It’s like he’s tapping into his “inner child”. People criticize him and may not like him, yet they won’t leave him alone. The scrutiny must be suffocating at times. Idols are humans, too. 💜

Ps : he said he wrote this song in 2019. And like what you feel, first time i watched this (even untin now) i focused to the lyrics and the song. This song is related to everyone. When everyone puts great burdens and hopes on our shoulders, besides you are still a child who still learned how the world works. And forgot that everyone has a limit. He also been talking that when a kid we usually want to know about the world, but now he wants to know more about himself.

I think Mark said he wrote it like in 2017 or something . And as you can see he is the busiest members who is in all 3 units and 1 super group SuperM. Also he wrote his own lyrics for almost all of his rap. He is The Rapper, The Dancer, The Lyricist, Vocalist, Composer, Producer and The Leader.

Aside from Taeyong and Ten's solos, there are also other members who released songs under SM Station. Lucas, Mark, Jaehyun and Doyoung had a Collab song with other artists, I'm not sure about the other members but there are also station songs of NCT DREAM - 'Joy', 'Candle Light', 'Best Day Ever' and 'Hair in the Air(with Red Velvet's Yeri)'. NCY 127(Taste the Feeling) and NCT U('Coming Home' and 'Timeless'). They are all Released in past so they are not included in NCT LAB since it's a New Project but I'm Kinda excited for NCT LAB because this will be their chance to release their self made songs or They have written already even before(maybe?.. ) but they couldn't release it so yeah... Haha.. I'm sorry English is not my first language but still hope I helped. 😅
