Your graphing of y=2sqrt(x-1)+3 I believe was incorrect. You wrote the parent function but did not graph the x2 multiplier. The correct points are (1,3) ; (2,5) ; (10,9) and so on.

The only thing I don’t get where do you get the x value from? Is it always going to be 0,1,4,9??? I used 0,1,4,9 for all questions and got all the graphs right but how do I find the domain and range?
@MariosMathTutoring5 жыл бұрын
Robert, I use 0,1,4,9 for square root functions because they are perfect squares and easy to find the square root of. As far as the domain look at the possible x values ...you can either do this by looking at the graph or set the quantity under the square root to greater than or equal to zero and solve that inequality (since you can’t take the square root of a negative number without getting imaginary numbers) ...for the range look at the possible y values on the graph...hope that helps you!

i SUBSCRIBED TO YOUR CHANNEL, EXPLAINING HARD MATH WITH SOMETHING AS "SIMPLE" OF RANGE AND DOMAIN OF FUNCTIONS THAT IS PURE CALCULUS GREAT TEACHER!UR CHANNEL WELL EXPLAINED. I DO HAVE A QUESTION. WHY WHEN DEFINNIG RANGE AND DOMAIN OF NEGATIVE NUMBERS E.G. (-1i)(-1i)^2= range Not real Numbers and if (-1)(-1)(-1)^3=Real NUmbers. that is something I would Like to know in your next video... hahaha I really enjoy math still at 30 it's Fun, Now! how much do you charge for a private tutoring well I can teach a thing or two I was a University Professor at age 18 math and numbers (UPsrj) that's the name of the university who let me taught at age 18, It's the first bilungual University in Latin America, anyways I "taught" the future (bilingual Engineers). I didn't teach much about life as I was only 18 know I Look at math as a compass and Range on (-)x^1/2= equals (+i) that works.! now the range if it's in real numbers or (Fantasy Land) we will probably explain Imaginary numbers a little better, with Imagination I guess, and some math and science. good day and sorry for the (Typos)

Your values for the tables in both the transitioned square root and cube root functions are incorrect in the table. It is ideal to use the perfect square as you indicated for the parent function ie 0,1,4,9 for input values. However, with the transitioned example you should have +1 to those same input values to include the transition of x-1 yielding the proper input values of 1,2,5, and 10.

Mindy…you may want to take a second look at the video….I show how to graph from the ‘shifted origin’ using just a(sq rt x) ….there are many ways to approach graphing…but this was the method I demonstrated in this lesson.

I dont understand why you need the x y for the square root function
@bobby35094 жыл бұрын
You need x y to find coordinates that fit for x and y in the square root function in order to plot a graph

@Shaun sunshine bro your right I watched this video and when he did it I thought it was wrong casue he translated the graph correctly but did the stretch separately you cant do that if you plug in 4 for the 2nd graph you not gonna get a whole number cause 4-1 is three and you cant square that and get a whole number and I checked by using a graphing calculator to confirm this if you plug in a x value you have to do the rest of the math not cut it up like he did for example if function of x was 5 for second graph then 5-1 is 4 square that is 2 multiply by 2 equals 4 then plus three is 7 and the y value would be 7 if you plug in 4 then it would be 6.5 rounded
