This is awesome! I came here for tips on aesthetics and got a ground up conversation about UX, UI and how they relate to the relevance of a company in the marketplace. Much more dense than I had anticipated and extremely valuable! Still going through all your videos, Futur... and this critique video is super valuable! It gives a first hand view of what it's like to work in an agency/design studio environment, which many of you would like to get into one day! Having your designs posted up on a wall and annotated is a popular way studios critique designs and is something you can do at home too and highly suggest, even if it's for a personal portfolio! Would love to see more of these videos, with perhaps one of your case studies that you've already produced! Btw, Jaime did an awesome job designing the site! (I need more practice!! lol)

6:03 In addition to building trust quickly, I think the logo quilt is there for positioning purposes also. It's a way of telling the user 'We are very comfortable producing extremely high quality content for global brands'. It is a way of defining who their target market is (medium to large companies or perhaps start-ups who aim to be to next big thing). A mom and pop grocery store who just want to put a website up will look at that and probably think 'Maybe these aren't the guys for me'.

Hey Chris or Jose. I absolutely love this and I've been looking for videos like this with such fervor that I have been actually considering doing a few of my own because it is great content. A lot of us freelancers have issues communicating with the client. It's something that comes with practice but if you're a designer or developer, the whole planning (PM) side of it and client relations might not be at the top of your attention list. A lot of the time I don't know how to explain a design to a client and make them understand it. Sometimes I have issues where the client extends the scope during a review meeting and I don't quite know how to defend my work. It's honestly a touchy subject for myself and a lot of people actually. I would love to see more actual client review meetings (if possible and if not, you guys can experiment with mockups). I think a lot of people would get a loooot of value off of that. It would be amazing if you could do a series on a low budget website project (once again, real or mockup) start to finish. I know that's a little overboard in terms of time it would take to plan, shoot and edit but it's worth to think about.

So... I'm not a designer, been crash coursing branding and design on this channel for my project. Decided to check out the current Blind website and I noticed something I would never have noticed before. The current logo for blind is a gothic typeface, but the text is all a modern san serif. The logo just looks out of place for me all of a sudden. Again, 2 weeks ago, wouldn't have noticed, but I now have an opinion on this. LOL. My opinion is the site text should be a serif text. (haha). Or the logo needs a redesign, seems noisey compared to the rest of the site. Thanks for ALL your work, and clearly teaching me about design!
@thefutur5 жыл бұрын
Contrast is king. So you don’t like the typeface pairing?
@schumzy5 жыл бұрын
@@thefutur still getting to grips with type. cant express it yet in design speak. as i said, 2 weeks ago wouldn't have even noticed.

@@thefutur careful... you guys keep dropping knowledge on my a**... No I'm not a fan of the black letter typeface with a san serif pairing. this could be heresy in the design world. i wouldn't know. Great video ! I had a question : Once the webpages are designed by the designer and hands it over to the developer , there are some compromises to be made with the one we designed and the one the latter is gna develop. How do we set a balance in here ? Be nice if you could do a video with the designer and developer working on a live project and discussing on the same ! Thanks !
