Graphic Equalizers | Technics SH-8058

I have exact same equaliser on long term loan from a friend of mine. You're spot on , it improves the audio to the speakers immensely, really sharpens up the tones. Was extremely handy for me too as I'd run out of inputs on my amp , so I can route my Marantz tape deck through it. It's a classy piece of kit , and still performing wonderfully well 35 years on. It's amazing the difference it can make especially when you start setting it up form your own ears. It's a testament to Technics of the 80s and the solid state technology in it that they still work phenomenally well all these years later

Good video! Does the device need to be turned on or can it still play music through it passively when it's off? How much did you pick yours up for, and whats a fair price to pay for one nowadays?

Music comes through it even when switched off, as long as there is still power to it. I paid about £80 for one but they can be anything upwards of that

Great review! I have the exact same model but it seems to have technical problems and i took it to a repair shop but he couldnt do much to fix it he told me. Now i am thinking should i keep the sh-8058 or should i buy an sh-8038?? Whats the difference between these two models? (Generally i have a technics amplifier su v60 vc4, a technics turntable system sl-j3 and a technics double cassete deck rs-t60r, all working fine, which of the two equalizer models would be suitable for my turntable and the tape recorder??)

I'm not sure about the differences. Could be that a more simple model due to lower model number. But any equaliser should work with those components

Possibly but it is mostly digital so parts might not fix it. What exactly is wrong with it?

@@TheRedCassette02 I dont know but the sound doesnt work when i plug it in my amplifier and i tried two different ways that the operating manual said but with no luck. Also only two small Leds worked while all the other ones where completely dead, even the red leds on the buttons didnt seem to work

My advice is too open it up and see if anything is unplugged and maybe use contact cleaner on bits

I have this exact same unit. But, i have come across a minor fault. & that is regardless of what i have is set at the spectrum is unbalanced on one side It doesn't seem to do any sound difference ( not that i notice). But, visually there is quite a big difference & i find it very annoying. All i want to do is re- balance the spectrum anyliser ( excuse spelling errors) & i have found nothing on how to do it PLEASE HELP!!!!!! 🙄😯😟

Could be an issue with the source rather than the spectrum analyser itself. Either that or there might be a pot to twiddle inside

@@TheRedCassette02 I have tried looking for a adjuster But, i can't find it. As you know i have the very same one shown in the video. I have been trying to find anything on KZbin to help me solve this issue. I did find it quite some time ago. ( on KZbin But🙄🙄🙄😳😳😠😠😠😠😠) . I didn't get around to dealing with it then.& deeply regreted it then & still do & i didn't make a note of the solution 🙄 😟😠😠😠😠👎 & i really hate myself for it As i have never found it since So, if you or someone else finds the answer i would be very , very much appreciated by it. 🙄😟

I have found on my unit ( very same as this one) that it has developed a inbalance on the spectrum. I can't hear the difference but, i can see most deffo & i find this very ANNOYING!!!!!😠😠😠😠😠😠😠 I would like to know on how to reset the spectrum ( flashing lights) above the graphic equalizer. If you know how please do tell. Being trying to find the solution to this for quite some time ( but so far to no avail). 😳😟

Not entirely sure. There is a spectrum level button but inside there might be pots you can turn. Have a look if there are any and you might be able to alter the height
