Thanks for (as usual) the great video! I just watched the Techsmith video "Understanding Blend Modes." They ran through all the blend modes at light speed and my brain is fried. I'm sure there may be times when I might want to use a blend mode, but I (maybe all of us!) need a guru like you to do videos on each blend mode and show us practical applications for each one. If anybody can do it, I'm sure you can! Thanks again for the great instruction you give us on getting the most out of Camtasia.
@Graphicious2 жыл бұрын
Glad it was helpful! I am still watching the blend modes video from Techsmith. It's a good and comprehensive one but I pause a lot. I kind of know the theory but Clint (I think) speaks quite fast in this one. I do like the blend modes in Camtasia, they open up a lot of possibilities, but while they are powerful, they can be a little intimidating and it takes experience to figure out which one would be best used in a specific situation or for a particular desired effect. Blend modes have existed in a lot of programs for many years (Adobe Photoshop, Premiere, Affinity, etc), and I admit, at first, I was just poking in the dark, selecting them randomly until I saw something I liked. I'll think of some cool examples for them and see if I can break it down into more digestible videos.

Thanks for sharing! I think there are some good features in this one, but I believe the biggest improvement before these was the Media Matte in 2021. I love that and I use it all the time. Thanks, Christi! I am watching all the Camatasia 2022 videos, and yours is a good one. Everyone touches lightly on the BLEND modes (and Camtasia has a more technical treatment), but I would still love additional instruction on how to use this exciting feature. I do not have a technical background in video production or graphic design, and so some of what's happening to the pixels and colors in the blended images is beyond me. I don't necessarily need to scientifically understand what's happening (which is what Camtasia's longer video on the topic aims for), but to grasp the potentials of each variation so that I can deploy them in my creative arsenal, so to speak. If you could walk us through some of the basic applications of BLEND mode, I'd be thrilled (e.g. as you demonstrated its use in two layered videos and with a video and text). Sorry, I know making a video is a big request. Many thanks, Jenna P. S. Hearing you talk about Camtasia not traditionally allowing "organic" and layered effects, like in PhotoShop or After Effects, was very interesting to me as someone who has not come to video-making via those other programs. So, I learn a lot from you just by your decriptive reflections of Camtasia and other tools. I am just pointing out how your viewers probably come from different levels of experience and professional background. (I am a professor of library science, not a designer or video-maker, but am trying to hone the craft.)

Christian phenomenal video! So well thought out and planned. The feature to me that is the biggest game changer is the synchronization between Audiate aunt Camtasia. That was the single feature I was saying was missing from the integration previously that it would get your video file out of sync with your audio file and really was limited Audiate which currently is $29.99 per month which is very steep. What is the new price? Also your point about not having any punctuation capabilities is really on point at limits using the file as an SRT adjunct to your presentation. I hope they fix that in the upcoming version upgrade. All of the features you described are tremendous and exciting and I am looking forward to creating using their fine programs. Thank you for your outstanding video
@Graphicious2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for your great comment. I am glad you enjoyed the video! Audiate was more expensive before (when it launched, I think it was $50/month), so this year it's cheaper - but you're right, the captions are coming soon, according to the announcement on the last update. It is a popular request. I also put in a request today for automatic silence removal. I can see it growing into a much more useful product, maybe similar to Descript, but with the advantage of being integrated with Camtasia and benefiting from all the video editing power too.

I got excited for the custom paths, just to found out it only applies to a bloody cursor. Nevertheless Camtasia still fills my needs for the video editor. It just sad to see there was so little improvement after a year of silence. Great job on your video though.
@Graphicious2 жыл бұрын
I appreciate your feedback! I think Techsmith will build upon these things and we could see path animation and other stuff next year. A few of the features in 2022 in fact, expanded or built upon things from previous versions. I have a feeling that Techsmith focused on rewriting some of the core functions on this one like canvas interaction engine, support for h265 and making LOTTIE stuff more useful.
@mohamadstevecrockett2 жыл бұрын
Well done - this was a long video but TechSmith have included a whole raft of new items. What I did notice was that some of the json files triggered a "better in 60fps" and Camtasia offering to make the whole project 60fps. Looks as if many will be Proxy mode and more HD space required. Also I will have to be more selective of the assets I keep as many are never used!
@Graphicious2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I don't know if it makes a difference whether the project is 30 or 60fps. The new assets are either pre-built using Camtasia's facilities or they are JSON LOTTIE files, which also are vector and shouldn't really matter. I always select to 'leave my project alone' when that warning comes up.
@mohamadstevecrockett2 жыл бұрын
@@GraphiciousAs far as I know, 60fps doubles the size of the rendered file but the quality is far superior.

Only if the videos that are used in that project are also 60fps. Using a 30fps video on a 60fps timeline will only increase your file size and repeat frames. It won't automatically make video look smoother. Animated assets, yes.

Hey Cristi, do you know if they've added transparent background for the canvas?
@Graphicious2 жыл бұрын
Sadly, they didn't. And I don't see that coming very soon. I assume the reason you want the transparent canvas is to be able to export video without a background, with alpha, to use in such things as overlays, right? Well, that's not possible at the moment. In fact, in order to export with alpha, you need a different container - AVI on Windows and MOV on Mac. These containers support alpha channels. The only application I have used that actually does this (there may be others), is After Effects. But because the video must be uncompressed, it will produce VERY large files. Like, I have an animation I used to have on my videos a while ago, popping up from the bottom of the screen - that lasts about 10 seconds on-screen. It's 3GB!

@Graphicious2 жыл бұрын
Hi, it works fine for me and seems more stable than 2021. What exactly is 'unusable' for you? If it's the 'standalone projects', you can of course still have projects using the old way, which doesn't put all of them in a folder together, by unchecking the standalone option when you save.
@carpediem-photographie2 жыл бұрын

@@Graphicious I was waiting for more video editing options like backward video and more visual effects like blending for example, a small widget for the screen recorder, mirillis action has a very good one for example, on the audio maybe an EQ, a lot of stuff on the library its ok but some of those feel like a copy of some older functions, for example on the expressive animations-compound expressions this effects are very similar to the ones on annotations the only difference is we have a cursor drawing the figure, i feel filmora is way ahead on the video editng part. Of course camtasia has its advantages since is easier to use and has a better interface, but still is getting behind on the editing part, nowadays to be able to record the screen is not enogh since there are a lot of options on the market and some of them are cheaper something to have in mind for the company i think.
