I'm kinda in the same boat, I just started taking college classes in my junior year and it has been getting really stressful. This video is me where I struggled most in the class so far, so thank you Brian for being a good teacher for all of us, and thank you Alyssa, I feel less alone. : )

Math requires knowledge of fundamentals to advance. Good on anyone who is spending extracurricular time to reinforce concepts. By that same token, you should not be too worried when you struggle with a new concept. It only means you need to practice it and its precursors!

@Kimberly Land since its in the parentheses with the x we know it's a horizontal translation, but the math is weird with it, if it's negative it translates right, if it's positive it will go left.

Some teachers just assume that students automatically know these things so they don't explain in depth. But there's students like me who always needs a refresher before you start ne up in the new unit or else I just get really confused on where things come from.

I wish you were my teacher back in the day. I have a question regarding the transformations, I understand how to shift x and y wiht in my graph, however, I don't quite understand based on the quadratic linear equation f(x)= a(x+b)^2+c , how do i find a?
@n11124
@n11124 3 жыл бұрын
Substitute f(x) with a y coordinate point, and all the x values with the same point of where the y value is. So if I were to find a, I'd have to find a specific point on graph, and find those two x and y values and just Substitute them
