Thank you for commenting. I annotated where I misspoke. I apologize for that.

So is there a difference between phase shift and horizontal shift? I found some web pages that saying there are different standard forms in physics and math. Please advise. Thanks in advance. @Mathispower4u

Oh, but I must say this was a great video nonetheless. You were very clear and it definitely resolved some of my issues. Thanks for contributing! :)

Based on your first definitions, aren't we suppose to shift D to the right if D > 0. Since π/4 is greater than 0, why are we shifting the left???

x + pi/4 = 0 x = - pi/4 (Here D < 0 ; Shift Left by pi/4)

@ 1:38 he says the original sin graph goes from the intervals 0 to pi/ 2. That was an error. It actually goes from 0 to 2pi.

how did you know that -pi/4 plus pi equal 3pi/4?

why is that the first point starts at NEGATIVE 1/4 i thought the horizontal shift is a posiive 1/4 (+ 1/4) ????????? i understand why we would shift down 1 unit down but why would we need to go negative horizontally to start our point?????????

It is a bit counter intuitive, by think about the function value when x = 0. With the x + pi/4, it takes a -pi/4 to make the input (x) equal to 0.

ohhh okey so anytime the the (D) is positive but the (C) is negative you are shifting horizontally negative as well?
