This video was probably the best, most informative one that I have seen and I have seen a lot!!! Graeme, thank you for introducing Terry Jackson to us. She is an incredible talent and I so love her work. The close up shots of her work are so impressive as you can see every stroke of the pencils. You both are so very inspiring. I could just watch your videos non-stop! Again, Terry, I love your work. Thank you for sharing it with us. I have real soft spot for baby elephants too, so it was a real treat watching you work on this drawing. Keep up the fantastic work. By far my favorite yet!!!

My mouth is hanging open...All the wildlife artists I thought were amazing before can't hold a candle to Terry's work! Truly, truly unbelievable...And, just DOING such beautiful work is a gift to the world, whether she donates to charities or not (of course, that's very nice, too). Wow.

Beautiful artwork... great talent. Two essential tools in my drawing kit... Blu-Tack and an electric eraser... I rarely use any other type of erasers.. I also the electric eraser to create highlights on my airbrushed artwork....it will lift acrylics quite nicely from artwork on board or canvas. Additionally, I sometimes use a scalpel point to scratch in fine hairs on my airbrush work. Over the past month or so, I have been experimenting with a Paasche Air Eraser - (an airbrush designed to use sand blaster), to do texturing and erasing.... Firstly, I used silica grit (normally used in this eraser), but found it to be too aggressive and messy. I then switched to using Bicarbonate of Soda as the erasing grit and it worked a treat. ... cheap as well! I did find that a mask and eye protection should worn when using the air eraser.. I use an airbrush (on air only) to clear the soda residue off the art surface and, if needed, I use a mini vacuum to pick up the dust in the work area, when I'm finished the erasing.. For example, using this erasing technique, I can rework the details of a painting of a pristine farm tractor to a weather beaten relic in minutes.....The technique is also great for rendering clouds or fog in a painting. Cheers

,okay thank you very much for getting back to me. By the way I have been watching your videos for close to a year now and love every single one of them. Harry makes me want to get rid of all my fancy art equipment and start doing graphite drawings again I really think that's what I was my happiest as an artist. Everything was so much less complicated it was simple....... I think I did my best work then. Either way I have learned from each and every artist that you have featured and sincerely appreciate you doing so.

I've really enjoyed this video. Terry is an amazing artist... so talented. I've watched the video a number of times now and find I learn something new each time. Terry has inspired me to pursue my drawing more seriously. Like her, I discovered I could draw relatively recently and the more I do the more my skills develop. So far I've only ever drawn from my own photos or from photos that have been provided to me by the people I'm doing the free drawing for, as I don't want to breach copyright. Can anyone help with where I can get information on how to go about licensing the use of a photo?

What a brilliant artist she is. The detail is unbelievable! I live in the UK and am disabled so there's no way I can get pictures of elephants. Hi Graeme Stevenson Terry mentioned searching for images, and mentioned Flicker. What is that process? does she use sites that allow images to be copied? I've always wondered about that. I've seen numerous images that I'd like to use as the bases for an artwork, but I worry about copyright issues.
@ColourinyourlifeAu9 жыл бұрын
Hi Edward,yes there are many sites that you can get royalty free images or you can always reverse the images you get to avoid copy right infringement . You will need to change the image by at least 30% so turning it around does work, Graeme
@terryjackson87735 жыл бұрын
hi Edward. I usually ask the photographer for permission even if it's on a creative commons licence. They are attributed as the original photo grapher on my website.

awesome! and very helpful video, I wonder what it is Terry is using to spread the graphite onto the paper? a really thick blending stump? I've also just bought a thin eraser from seeing it in use so thanks!
@terryjackson87739 жыл бұрын
Hi David.... it is a thick blending stump. I never sharpen my stumps but rather I allow several of them, in different sizes, to become loaded with graphite. On a really large area I use tissues and the graphite powder from my own pencil shavings but on smaller areas, stumps are the go. Cheers Terry www.drawnwild.com

@thetruthgodcountry50528 жыл бұрын
+Scott Sechrest yes I thought of that and heard it, but there may be another paper involved seeing how some of her darks look. smooth papers usually don't allow such darks to develop
@cowpoke988 жыл бұрын
The Bristol smooth lets you get pretty dark. Its not "slick" and has a bit of tooth to it. I mix in black colored pencils to get dark blacks myself.
@terryjackson87735 жыл бұрын
I use a printing paper called Luste. Unfortunately, it's no longer available but Bristol smooth, Arches or in fact any high GSM smooth paper works. :)
