I love this video. Absolutely love it. 1. the landscape, those mountains, so incredibly beautiful. 2. the fields are ginormous. I have never seen fields of this acreage in my entire life. WoW. 3. The machinery.. I have always, since a little girl, wanted to drive a combine harvester. Unfortunately I never got the chance. That is my dream. The machine that gathers up the bales. The only other one ive seen was on the Drummond Ranch (America - Ladd Drummond) Never seen one before. Such a saving piece of kit. I so enjoyed this video. Thank you for sharing my friend. 🌳🚜🚜🌳

Hay farming is such good, honest work that yields a tangible and useful result. And it is enjoyable to watch. Thanks for posting the video, Duane. The music goes very nicely with the visuals.

Nice drone footage!!!!! If you gotta do smalls, 16"×18" is the only way!!! I still prefer big bales though😎 We just finished up the last of the grass today, now to get some oats cut... And some other oats combined!!! Thanks for the video!!

Love this video! How long does it take to make one run of the field? I remember in the 50s the mountain farmers raked hay up in a tall pile around a pole! Times have changed!

We have several fields. It depends on the distance from the field to the stack. Our longest haul is about 1.5 miles or 3 miles round trip not counting distance in the field. Most hauls are about 1 mile round trip. On those runs we make about 4 loads per hour per hay wagon. This year we made about 3000 ton of hay. Awesome grass year!

In all my many years I've never seen how this is done, and I so enjoyed it! Thanks. Does this amount of feed handle all of your feed needs? How many cuttings do you do, and is this alfalfa, Timothy, or grass? I'm curious. Thanks Eva C.

We cut only once. We flood irrigate. The hay we put up is all native grass hay. Our hay crop provides all of the forage we need for the herd, but we have an enormous pelleted grain bill every year due to the fact that we raise bulls and background all of the calves weaned in the fall and continue feeding them until they are either 850 pounds to sell to the Certified Hereford Beef program, or kept to sell as breeding animals. I hope this answers your questions. Thanks for watching. Please subscribe to my channel.

How many bales you think you put up for the winter? Also does the small square bales work better for your farm than the large square bales?
@ChandlerHerefords4 жыл бұрын
Yes, our operation is set up for small bales to feed in the winter. We do not have to pick them up by hand at all during feeding time. In fact, we have invented a remote controlled feeding system for our pickups and for the truck that feeds the full bale wagon loads. It makes it much safer and really handy too. Thanks for watching!

we make approximately 50,000 bales each season

How many acres do you have?
@ChandlerHerefords5 жыл бұрын
1100 acres of hay meadows
@ChandlerHerefords5 жыл бұрын
The 2500 to 3000 ton of hay the meadows produce is just enough for our 600 mother cows and to keep our background lot full through the long winters here. We have occasionally had to purchase some hay on some years when our production was down.
