This year was a year of grasshoppers of various colors and sizes. Meadows were plentiful with them. This is a closer look at one of them.
This grasshopper, Pholidoptera species, belongs to the suborder Ensifera. They are among what is possibly the most ancient living group of chewing herbivorous insects, dating back to the early Triassic around 250 million years ago.
