I was 14 and This is my First Show!! I had seen JGB in December the previous year in Philadelphia 12-2-83 and got hooked on Ol Jerry’s guitar work. I broke my neck age 6 and the Grateful Dead gave me wings. Thank You 🙏🏽

@Eat_Drink_Listen yes. He played with more enthusiasm and had the voice of an angel. So yes. Keith was awesome and pigpen was in his own league and was an amazing blues frontman. But I prefer the Brent shows.

@noblelashley1523 eh, obviously completely subjective, but most everyone I know outside of folks who only went to 80s Brent shows, the opinion that Keith being the best keyboardist and the 70s of some sort, whether it be 72-74, 74-78, or 76-78 being the best GD era, is nearly ubiquitous. Unfortunately enough, they often sound like a bar band in much of the 80s. A lot of contributing factors there, but generally speaking, they were not at their best. This is my opinion, but I'm definitely not alone here. Doesn't mean that it's right or whatever, but anyway.

Mmmm Kayyyy I just can't Share in the Universal Adulation for this show. I was there & remember it as Good but not Great. Listening now . . . Is about as much Junkball Jer as I can stomach. BE Women, Roses - just Cringeworthy Awful. 2nd set is played better but a pretty weak setlist besides the Dew which is again Cringy Gaffe Ridden & not much of a Thrilling climax. Just for comparison, listen to the 2nd Spectrum show the year before - 4/26/83 - similar format setlist (short pre drums) some of the same songs, but FAR FAR FAR better played & enthusiastic. I had to literally be peeled off the wall after experiencing Sofaking many Phil bombs at that show. The Space - Truckin - Morning Dew SO much more developed & played w/passion than this show. Now I know why I never listen to 84 - 86, just too painful. Let's see if Okie posts 4/21, at the time I was HOWLINGLY pissed off at how BAD that performance was, Jerry Butchered the Help & China Doll, & I mean, I was having a great time at these shows, had graduated college the year before & was reuniting with a lot of college buddies i hadn't hung with in a while, & we had done the 1st mail order & had really great up front center seats in a really gorgeous smallish venue with amazing sound, but having a Good Time just cannot Paint Over a Dismal performance, not in my book. They didn't call me Buzzkill Bob for nothing. Don't think I've ever tried to relisten to that show, we shall see . . . ;)
