Amazing. Attending those 5 shows brought me back.Saw them from 1985-1995 was lucky enough to see 211 with Jerry. celebrating 50 years was an unforgetable experience that was be celebrated with 50 years music. What a line up of set lists night after night.The Grateful dead was such a big part of my life from 17-27 years old I so happy celebrating the 50 years with the band. Loved the rainbow in Santa Clara. Jerry's sprit lives on..His voice still brings me to tears.

+gourmetmn I went back to this show to try and see some equipment, Saw your post. It's hard to come to any reasonable conclusions to why tickets are so FN expensive now. I have stubs from the 70's up and I don't think any of them went over 20.00 except for the JGB on broadway at 30.00 then when I broke all promises to myself never to go to a show after Jerry's passing. But other then seeing rat Dog in FLA twice I took my son to his first show, Further at the PNC Bank and it was 46.00 in crappy seats. July/12/2013 It rained all day and night. For July it was cold and our seats were supposed to be under cover but they moved all the seats back after adding to the place so we were just about under the roof but no good. Moved up as far as we could without bothering anyone. The show itself was OK. But Now? According to the shows coming up at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium for GA seats the only ones left are platinum starting at 150.00 each plus tax plus service fees. I went as far as the Forum and just a quick look G/A in the pit start at 599.00-1,099.00 the farthest seats start at 88.00-178.00 What happened? I have been going to DSO shows also and their prices are OK.

Nice job Zoe. Was prejudicial at the time of this band. Hard to accept without Jerry and the whole money grub that was associated with it., but this vid and the music shows what a good time the folks that were there were having. Not sad I wasn't there but a good fun time it looks like. And you captured it perfectly!

I hate to say it but I would not go see the latest insult to a band That changed the history of music. Yes I did watch the 4th of july show with Trey but he has over 20 or more years of playing jam music unlike the douchebag in the band now. Micky just sits there and hits some toms using brushes while Billy does all the work, Than he plays with his toy "The Board" And that's how I feel about the them now...Very Board. Please understand I have been a Dead Head since 1972. Do not take this personally.
@haleymay11199 жыл бұрын
Does anyone know why Mickey has a plastic wall guarding his drums? Does it have to do with buffering the sound or is it there simply to keep people from crashing into it?

@ripplemeinwater19 жыл бұрын
+Gary Brier What do you consider the pit? The area between the band and crowd?
@garybrier24849 жыл бұрын
+Augest West .From what I was told it was the area on the floor in the front of the stage.I was about 20 feet out in the center.Not sure there was really anything between stage and crowd except for maybe security
@garybrier24849 жыл бұрын
+Augest West and the camera crew was in between stage and crowd too.That would have been a great place to be :)
@ripplemeinwater19 жыл бұрын
Cool..Yea we called the area where the fencing is all like a maze so if people get crushed the guards pick them up and show them the way out...All the way up...THE PIT. IE: The pit cause once you end up in it you go to an upper deck. Those were the 80's shows and 90's If you look at a lot of shows you'll se it mostly in blue.

OK, I think that after all my bitching Maybe Mickey got the hint. If you look at the so called Fare Thee Well shows Mickey has no Cymbals except for like one in the rear of his Board! Now if you look at the new band....Which I think suck he has cymbals in the front of his kit. I have not seen any live stuff yet from the new bands stuff, I hate to say it but I think John Mayer is an Egotestile punk. NO I WAS WRONG..THE PHOTO I SAW OF MICKEY'S KIT WAS OFFSET TO LOOK AS IF HE CHANGED UP, BUT THERE ARE STILL NO CYMBALS ON HIS KIT, Why am I so amorous about this? One because it seems like he is dumping all the work on Billy, As a drummer and have done hundreds of shows with two drummers it's kinda like after a while if one guy gets a little tired the other will pick up the slack...Woman also I am not a chauvinist. Now I know Mickey is 72 now? But billy is about 70 so where's the old Mickey Hart? He's sitting there playing with batons and brushes. I have been watching these two since 79 and getting behind them during the solo's almost got hit in the head by one of Billy sticks, He sometimes would throw them on the floor,They would bounce up and go flying...I couldn't find it then the guard that let us back said "HEY YOU BEST SPLIT FOR I LOOSE MY JOB'' OK.....Most of the guards back then at the garden, Byrn, Spectrum were pretty cool and a badge doesn't hurt either or a ten or twenty dollar bill...OK getting back to my point, All Mickey seems to care about these days is the board which back in the late 70's and most of the 80's was really cool, But now it's like his baby, It's got four preamps, Several loopers and the best handmade pickups in the world. They are huge. He'll go over to it, Pluck a string or two and loop it then start to mess around with other electronics. This is not the Mickey hart I grew to know. He was one of the best percussionists of our time, He has traveled all over the world to get sounds from the desert to the woods to his own child's heartbeat. Which was and still is used during natural childbirth to calm the mother down. He was on his birthday presented all the Woody Guthrie tapes to help get them re recorded before they disappeared into a mass of celluloid. This prestigious gift was from the Smithsonian. He also was given a lot of other projects that others couldn't even wrap around their minds let alone do them. SO IN CLOSING AT THIS TIME I HAVE JUST FOR SOME REASON LOST RESPECT FOR A MAN WHO I HAVE ALWAYS REVERED AS ONE OF THE BEST PERCUSSIONISTS, DRUMMERS AND INVENTORS EVER IN THE HISTORY OF DRUMMING. Over cymbals? Someone tell me that his arms are just to messed up to get the reach he used to have and I will take that with medical proof of course.

Really man? I just saw Dead and Co. and it wasn't the most impressive work I've seen of a dead style show, but Billy and Micky were on point dude. To be honest they were the reason I went in the first place. I think they are on fire, but that's my oppinion. Looks like your gonna have to dig out that old JGB vynil and put the needle on the record!!!

Thanks man, I guess I get critical to a point of being stupid or maybe it's just jealousy being if I said am a drummer myself. I just miss the old days. Peace.
