YES! This is without a doubt my favorite performance of Morning Dew. The tension/release in the end jam is stellar. The entire band is just locked in. It's such an amazing build, starting from a real soft place and slowly building and building and just when you think it peaks, there's a peak that peaks it and then another peak to peak the peak that just peaked and then a peak to peak that one and on and on and on until it just doesn't matter anyway.

In my humble opinion, this was the zenith of the Dead's work. There are ton of shows that were smokin' and many amazing moments through the years, but the last few minutes of this Dew is like nothing else ever. Still blows me away every time I hear it. Welcome to the rabbit hole!

It is indeed Jerry singing. The great thing about the Dead is how much they change and evolve over the years. It is worth listening to different versions of songs throught the years.

What a joy to share your first listen to this amazing version. This was the end of the 2nd set, followed by One More Saturday Night for the encore.

"Morning Dew," also known as "(Walk Me Out in the) Morning Dew," was a contemporary folk song by Canadian singer-songwriter Bonnie Dobson. Dew" became part of the Grateful Dead's repertoire after frontman Jerry Garcia was introduced to the singer-guitarist Fred Neil recording by roadie Laird Grant in 1966. The group first played the song as their opening number at the Human Be-In in January 1967; the same month the group recorded it for their self-titled debut album, released that March. This is the version I come back to when I need my "Dew" fix. :)>

I was actually at this show. My brother was a graduate student at Cornell at the time. Truth is every show in 76 and 77 was amazing. I saw 4 shows the year before with the Deadhead tour and this one didn't stick out as being better than the others. Was a great show though

@@samblethen Was not questioning this version of Morning Dew it was amazing. Was talking about the Dead shows around that time in general just being really really great and even though this show was excellent it didn't stick out to me at the time as being better than other shows of that time period.

This show is widely considered their best show ever. Betty Cantor Jackson recorded it, and she always brought Phil way up in the mix. That's why the Betty Boards are the best recordings.

'77 was probably the pinnacle of Dead. Personally, and I've heard just about all the Dead's work, this version of Dew is the BEST! The only caveat is all of the Europe '72 was recorded in multi-track, so generally higher sound quality, whereas this is from the soundboard (2 track). But I love this version!

Not my favorite version, that'd go to Nazareth and Devo, their covers are my favorites with a nod to Devo. Never been a big Dead fan, great song though. Thanx
