I miss the 70’s. There was real magic in the world. The energy from a Grateful Dead show was indescribable. It was group ecstasy. There was a definite peak . The band was just getting warmed up. The woman were friendly and beautiful. The smell of incense was blowing around. The psychedelics were superb. It never ends.

if only....great Bands like this happens LIVE just once. I got on the Bus back in 1970 when I was 14 and heard WORKINGMANS DEAD. Yes, they had a couple earlier albums (remember those?) out, but it was the kinda music that I had to be stoned before I listened to it....but when they dropped those 2 albums in '70 Hendrix was NO LONGER my favorite music. Saw my 1st concert in Jersey City in '72 and it got to the point where I literally followed their Bus from one Venue to the next in my car (no google maps back then). Tickets were cheap $5.50-$12.50, Gasoline .50¢ Gal. during my time, and so were the Concert goodies...ahhh, the $20. oz...just as good then as it is now, dont believe the talk sayin it wasnt so.

that was the beauty of the Band. I would go see them play a 3-day stand and never hear the same song twice...then, they would dust off an old Gem. WOW! I 1st got to see them in 1972 and followed the Bus for decades.

I appreciate 76 more and more every listen….third Dead show for me In Hartford that year…Colt Park
@billc21474 ай бұрын
The show with the mad, medieval battle at the fence at Colt Park! I and a third of the crowd had left after 1st encore. Well they came back to reprise Sugar Mag, crowd that had left sought re-entry only to be met by the Hartford MC doing security. Mad melee of chains and pipes vs massed assault on the fence line, at first repulsed, but by the third attempt had strung out security till they were too thin to counter the rush. A tactical victory for the crowd. Sat on the berm and watched in awe at a scene that came out of the Crusades. Encore ended, everyone cheered and went home. Nothing to see here. I sat there stunned at having seen a great show, an infantry skirmish that both sides were up for with a resolution of mutual respect and walked away knowing that yes, every Dead show was different, in so many ways and at so many levels.

I was there and it was wonderful as you can tell. Though my favorite show from '76 was 7/18/76 which I was fortunate to also attend. From the start of seeing the dead live at the start of April '71 to when Jerry passed, was a magical and blessed part of my life. Favorite live was 4/28/71, but so many amazing times. Thank goodness I moved to Boston in '72. The opera of Nov 30 - Dec 2 1973 must be released in its entirety and on Vinyl too !!! So sad it hasn't yet. Not fade away.

@darthjesus4203 жыл бұрын
They did cocaine all through the seventies. I like to think it must’ve gradually increased over time as they became better musicians and saw higher heights as a band, and cocaine being addictive, wanting to maintain it. but I mean look at jgb in the mid to late 70’s. It started with so little and then cats under the stars came of it. Jerry had been growing the whole time exponentially, the rest of the band following, some more than others, all in their own ways. The music started becoming more complex by 72 and slowly crept to being very well polished by 74. From there Jerry and the others had their own ventures, which gradually led to them all coming back together, and basically perfecting what they had begun in 73 and thus being able to increase doses and still get through the songs without getting lost and still reaching very interesting and enjoyable grounds as well. Now the late 70’s (being 78 and 79. The wheels began to slowly fall off in my opinion. The drummers began gritting their teeth and playing super fucking loud, the expeditions were more or less just roaring fun, not so unique. Mostly well executed. The rest I can’t stand. Heroin fucked Jerry up. They became mediocre. Little greatness came out of those years. Come back was alright, 90’s had its moments. That’s my opinion lol

@@darthjesus420 Thank you for putting this out here! As for the person that asked about if cocain was being done a lot. Yes, but all other drugs were being used. For a lot of people that I new,the choice was acid!
