This is a ridiculous little song I wrote for my kids during a write-seven-songs-in-seven-days songwriting challenge.

GRATITUDE
One day I woke up and came to breakfast
My mother put some food upon my plate
It was filled with food I hate
Sure, I loved it yesterday
But two days in a row should be a punishable crime
Gratitude: it’s the magic medicine for mad-itude/sad-itude
It will fill you up just like an innertube
When you get that feeling, you just need some gratitude
Once, one of my ten thousand toys went missing
I could swear it was right there three years ago
But my parents threw it out
So I shouted and I pouted
Cause that $1 alien happy meal toy from a movie I never saw was was my favorite toy of all!
One day when I was building castles out laundry
My parents made me stop to clean my room
I had trashed it just last night
And it wasn’t very nice
To make me pick back up the things
I just got finished throwing down
