I am a 45yo modern toy collector. I don't collect vintage toys. Not because I don't love nostalgia BUT because I cannot afford to go down that rabbit hole. I absolutely love faithful or near to faithful re-issues of toys that I used to play with as a kid. Retro card Ninja Turtles, retro card Joe's, Retro card Star Wars, Retro card Transformers; MOTU Origins is my most cherished line. My favorite re-issue is my Transformers G1 Soundwave and all 5 original cassettes.

The reissues are good because they usually aren't as fragile as the original.

I understand the price point holding you off. Luckily, I kept the coolest of my toys so I am mostly satisfied with that as my vintage collection. I collect more modern toys (on clearance) than older lines.

I got the mouser 5 pack from that bbts super 7 sale. The sword in the stone is awesome, used to love watching it as a kid. Haven't seen it in maybe 15 years, but I still remember liking it.

Yeah, I thought about grabbing more Mousers.

I think it’s kind of nice to get grail items re-issue. The real collectors are going to want the real deal anyway.

Yeah, that's true, but I often think about Scratch from TMNT. I'm always kind of amazed when I see him at a toy show. If he's hanging as a reissue at Walmart does that take some of the shine off getting to see him?

I hope you are able to fix the Swift Wind, the prices of the Motu classic figures are going a bit crazzy now days

It's pretty neat. Would love to take it to a pond.

I forgot Swiftwind had any articulation. I picture it as a statue like Panthor or Battle Cat.
@Pegwarmers Жыл бұрын
That's true of thr vintage figure. The MOTU Classics from 2008-20teens have articulated beasts.

I think a toy reissue isn't a big problem because they aren't the originals, and the originals are still worth way more money. And we both know that toys from the '80s aren't being made and produced anymore.

We saw the vintsge Kenner Ghostbuster and Ecto 1 drop in value because a super white new Ecto1 cost like $20.

Hi have no issues with reissues of toys and products as long as you make it clear on the toy and packaging its the reissue. Have reissue stamped on it, or different colours on it etc. You don't want the issue in video games where people try selling repro carts as originals. Happy for people to have the ability to complete their collections, but not at the expense of people being conned or wiping the valve off rate stuff.

Well, in the case of the Star Wars reissues, they have modern dates on the figures. The accessories are hard to tell apart.

I don't like re-issues of rare stuff. A lot of the time they're rare cos nobody bought them the first time. Imo, it cheapens the original and misses the point of why it was rare in the first place.

Yeah, and the fact that you don't see one every day is what makes it special.
