However, our journey doesn't end with the completion of the grave. With more snow on the horizon, we must continue to maintain the cemetery to ensure a peaceful resting place for the departed. Unfortunately, due to the overwhelming snowfall, I was unable to capture the filling-in of the grave in a part two video. Instead, my father bravely stepped in to complete the task while I tirelessly plowed through the snow for 23 1/2 hours.

"this stupid hole" very respectful. Im sure grave diggers have a human side that find humour in the solemnity of what they do. But i doubt they would upload it for the relatives to stumble across.

Do you lower the vault or does someone else put that in?

Cement company does it. Can’t show a part two because of the snow! Dad has to finish it up while I was plowing.

I always thought the graves were 6 ft down, this didn’t look that deep

From my research it is up to the township on the depth. It use to be 6 ft down before vaults. This was because they figured it was deep enough that no smell would come through. I’ve tried 6 ft and in this cemetery you hit the water table. Also the entire cemetery is sand underneath so once you start hitting that depth you start to have caving in problems because of the sand. I try to go five feet or the same depth as the next casket (if there is a next casket).

I've read some states only require as little as 4 ft.

Should have cleaned up dirt around the grave then cover wit plywood n a orange cone

No, after the hole is dug a cement company comes in and puts down the vault. After the vault is in they put up a tent chairs and carpet. The carpet covers everything and it looks really nice. 👍🏻
