While alcohol and drugs plagued Andy's life and weakened his body, he actually died from an inflammation of the heart muscle called Myocarditis. As you mentioned, he had NO drugs or alcohol in his system at the time. Andy was an adventurous soul. He jumped horses, sailed a 58' yacht, played a mean game of Tennis (to benefit charity) and flew small planes (he had a pilot's license). To date, he is the ONLY artist to ever have 3 consecutive Number 1 hits on Billboard straight out of the box. His relationship with Principal ended in 1982. It only lasted about a year and he really struggled with it, but was well "over" her long before he passed in 1988. Sadly, Andy never believed in his tremendous talent as a songwriter and performer. He loved his brothers dearly but felt overshadowed by them. His lack of confidence and severe depression certainly contributed to the substance abuse. I live pretty close to Andy's resting place and visit frequently. His father is interred in a crypt directly around the corner from him at Forest Lawn. Hugh Gibb never got over the loss of his youngest son and died just a few years later. I LOVED this vlog, Jordan! Excellent research and wonderful presentation! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!! R.I.P. dear Andy.

Hi I have been a fan of Andy’s since he began in US in 1977. He was always a part of my life. I know he would be 63 today. I enjoyed his music and following him and his career. I’m sorry I never saw him live in concert, but saw The Bee Gees in 1979. I was heartbroken when he passed away. I’m happy to have grown up with the Gibb Brothers music. It made me very happy. They were the best days. Thank you for posting. I would love to know what it was like to tour with Andy Gibb! Must have been great! Would have loved to have met him back then!

Back in the early 70s when I was around 15, I went to a Beegees concert in London with my parents. At the interval, I spotted Andy standing near the stage and my Dad took me to ask him to get the brothers' autographs, which he rushed off and very kindly did. At the time, nobody really recognised him, but I followed everything about the whole family, being a Beegees fanatic! When he returned, we thanked him and my Dad, as a last minute thought, asked Andy to add his autograph too. 'But I'm not famous!' he said, but added it anyway. I still have that piece of paper, with only Barry left now. Incidentally, I met Maurice Gibb in his dressing room at The Garrick Theatre, London, when he was appearing in a stage musical. He invited me and my Mum there after waiting to see him after the show. He gave me a hug, a signed album from the show and was T.H.E. loveliest person I have ever met in all my years. R.I.P. Maurice, Robin and Andy. (Apologies for the stupid - now corrected - mistake!)

So tragic, his addiction influenced the downfall of his career, his love life, etc. His brother's and others blame Victoria leaving him, but it must be difficult to be in a relationship with someone with an addiction. I wish they could get to the bottom on his addiction emotionally. What makes people use these substances in the 1st place and stay hooked? If they knew to handle it from an emotional stance, there would be a chance of him still being alive today.

Andy Gibb’s mother, Barbara Gibb, is on record stating that she’d asked the doctors at the time he’d entered the hospital, if there were indications of Cocaine or alcohol in his system and she was told NO. He’d died of PERICARDITIS, which is inflammation of the pericardium (the fibrous sac surrounding the heart). Symptoms typically include sudden onset of sharp chest pain, which may also be felt in the shoulders, neck, or back. The pain is typically less severe when sitting up and more severe when lying down or breathing deeply. This may have been brought on by his cocaine use but could’ve been treated (for several months), had the UK doctors contacted his American doctors, been made aware of and therefore could’ve received the proper treatment.

You are spot on with the life of Andy Gibb. I'm a BeeGees fan of many years. I remember being so excited when Andy came on the scene because he was a hottie and could sing just like Barry. The end of his life was sad. His Mom had a "feeling" about her baby. She stayed with him as he had become rambunctious. He also left behind a family in another life. Thank you for the beautiful vlog on Andy. He was my first music crush. I was crushed when I heard of his death. How could someone so young just die like that? He had a life not everyone knew about. He was married and has a daughter. Sadly I don't think Andy wanted to be the 4th Bee Gee. I think Barry was pushing him into it or something else he didn't want. Andy didn't die of a drug overdose or anything like that. But I think there was a lot of damage done to his heart with all the cocaine he did. I'm not a doctor and I can't say for sure. I never knew there was a bench with his name on it near by his resting place. It's nice to see some flowers in the vases. People must be coming by to say hi. I'm still sad he's gone and I listen to his music to this day. I'm glad you went out and visited Andy and told his story. I knew you would do a good job. Rest in Peace Andy. I still love you and always will. You were and are my everything. Jordan Stay safe, take care and God bless you.

Thank you for telling such a touching story about Andy Gibb. It's so sad to hear how troubled a young man he was. He was so talented and he had so much too give. You think he's got the world in the palm of his hand but you never know what's going on in real life. So sorry to hear that Barry Gibb lives with all that pain regarding his brothers. May God bless him. You're very good about how you tell such touching stories and respecting your subjects. Thank you.

Compassionate and caring tribute to a truly talented man. I remember when he was dating Victoria Principal and how loss he looked when they broke up. Such a waste of a true talent gone way too soon. Thank you for bringing this to us Jordan. A great video that also brings back the happier times and the wonderful music. Have a wonderful weekend. Blessings - Judith 🎵🎭

He always looked so happy while he was singing. Then just one day he was gone! I couldn’t believe he had died and so young too. I know I missed him ! I hope he found comfort on the other side🌈 God bless you Andy❤️

I don’t think he could of possibly known how much he was loved around the world, I come from a small town in the south of the us population 2000 back then & my older sisters and all of their friends absolutely adored him. He was as big as Elvis during that time at least where I lived. I remember watching him on tv and although I was a small child ,thought he was great!! One thing that also stands out is reading my sisters yearbooks and Andy was in many of the comments. When he passed away our small town and many others all over the world felt a huge loss. He was a talented young man taken too soon. Wonderful tribute.

Thank you so much for this one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE Andy Gibb so darn much, even today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He is #2 after Donny Osmond being #1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In fact the day that he died I cried and cried so darn hard, that I kept on crying for that whole week and played nothing but Andy's music, which I think I have all of his albums, but I'm not too sure on that one!! To today I still wear a t-shirt that I had back then that I can still fit that I got from a friend for my birthday one year, have a book about him, a Andy Gibb doll and that is about it!! I never got to see him in concert, darn it all, which still makes me MAD today, but one of my friends did and she said that he was just so wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I still to this day and forever LOVE Andy Gibb and still listen to his music!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Again thank you for this story on Andy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! RIP ANDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I STILL AND ALWAYS WILL LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Andy Gibb has also his grave in England, Thame,Oxfordshire, not far away from Robin,on the same cemetery. Robin's grave looks not very much taken care of,maybe except Valentine's Day,when some people bring fresh flowers. Maurice has memorial in Florida.pretty nice. All Brothers are separated . They should be all together.

he played a concert at a fair near here....a member of my family was working the fair as a nurse, and had to be "at the stage". they say Andy was a complete mess off stage, but on stage he was "on point" and perfect. maurice was cremated , and doesn't have a burial place. Robin is buried in Oxfordshire, England. their parents are buried at forest lawn also.
