As a niece to one of his patients in 97. I was 4 years old at that time. My Aunts name is Heidi Aseltine. I’ve been fascinated with Dr. Kevorkian since I was little because of this. And I honestly wish there were people who do this. You wouldn’t let your animal suffer so why would you let a family member suffer? So I honestly can’t thank him enough. Rest easy Jack and Aunt Heidi💕🪽

Now I will have to go down the rabbit hole about him. Yes, this is a very contarvual subject! Have lived with chronic pain for many many yrs sometimes you feel you just can't go on! I was pretty much berriden and everything l did was painful! I had to change insurance companys and a new doctor before l got relief. I'm 68 so a lot of Drs now do not want to give pain meds which is another subject on its on. I'm now on meds where l can function halfway normal. It has really been a blessing in my everyday life. I remember telling the last Dr l couldn't go on, but l didn't want to hurt myself. I was prescribed a book to read and needed to see my psychiatrist as soon as possible! Crazy, right! Ty for the video Jordan! I do remember this and want to see more about him! Take care and safe travels ♥️

As a teen I watched an aunt slowly become helpless and suffer dearly until the ending with Lou Gehrig's disease. What is the purpose of prolonging that type of suffering in anyone? It's the government not thinking we are intelligent enough to make an informed decision. Any medical decisions should be strictly between a doctor and their patients as well as the family members in the case of ending suffering.

On one hand if you are going to die with a terminal illness, suffer in a bed and not bourden your family with more medical bills...or the religious belief that your soul in damned...its a tough subject but i truly believe he cared for people. I noted the caduceus on his gravestone; that ancient symbol most people think represents medicine... except it never did. It's actually the staff of Hermes [Mercury], messenger of the Gods whose other jobs included the protection of merchants and thieves. But his more important role of all was to ease the passage of the newly-dead into Hades. In that respect, the caduceus was a fine choice for Dr. Kevorkian! BTW: the actual symbol of medicine is the staff of the demigod Asclepius which lacks Mercury's wings and has only a single serpent spiraling up the rod.

My G Grandfather was a country doctor in the late 1800s and early 1900s. My grandmother told me he would drop off morphine pills to terminally ill patients with instructions not to take them all at once or you would just go to sleep and not wake up. That was assisted suicide back then.
