You did a great job telling his story! I became a men's stylist in the late 70's. It started as a barber shop and turned into mens styling shop because of his technique. Shampooing, conditioning and cut. We used his product and also the big scissors he used! I was the first female mens stylist and barber in the small town l grew up in. The men loved it! I knew a lot of men, there wives, fathers and mothers. I made a lot of money for the times and great tips! There was a certain brush and blow drying technique that was taught to style the men's hair along with selling the shampoo and conditioner that was his! It smelled like cherry almond. He was definitely the innovator! I had to retire in 2002 because of a back and still miss it. A lot of years standing behind a chair. Ty for telling his story Jordan❤ l have a lot of respect for him and his technique! I gotta watch that documentary about him now. Safe travels ya'll❤

Jay Sebring was heroic during that evil night of August 9, 1969. His last act--the act that got him shot---was Jay defending Sharon Tate. Tragically she had to see Jay die for that act. The lives of these people were cut short so we don't know what might have happened to them in the future. Roman Polanski was a philanderer---he would not have been faithful to Sharon, though he did love her. Jay Sebring might just have ended up married to Sharon. They were possibly better suited for each other than Roman and Sharon. Excellent video.

Thank you Jordan for honoring Jay and his memory by telling his story of his life and his accomplishments beyond his notoriously tragic fate. I never knew just how influential he actually was as the first true hairstylist with the vision to give his clients what they actually needed rather than what they wanted. He ultimately served his clients better in the outcome and this is why he was so highly regarded and in demand. This is the very philosophy and vision that you see in the very best professional hairstylists today. I have seen many makeover shows like What Not To Wear where the whole team of stylist follow this exact ultimately winning philosophy and formula even if it means majorly butting heads with the one being made over. I can never look at him the same after knowing the talent and influence he had and how his philosophy has translated into other fields in the industry.

Thank you for this. Anybody interested in Sebring can see him in the cult classic documentary Mondo Hollywood, released around 1967. (I know many people here probably have seen that, but it's worth mentioning for those who have not. ) There is an extensive segment about Sebring, along with a remarkable amount of other interesting stuff. Bobby Beausoleil, later one of the Manson family murderers, is even in there.

Today, October 10, would be the 90th birthday of stylist Jay Sebring, Libra ♎️ Boy, a truly visionary young man in the world of styling and personal well-being, a great friend of celebrities such as actor Steve McQueen, who at his funeral and on the verge of crying would dedicate a few words very emotional messages to someone who was one of his best friends. I get the impression that Jay was a good person, may he rest in peace next to his beloved Sharon Tate, and his friend Steve, how unfair life is, Charles Manson and his “family”lived for many years and have never shown regret for their actions and committed the infamous act of taking other lives in their hands. 😢

I wish I had known that morgue and crime scene photos of Jay and the other victims were so readily available online. For decades those photos were not available to the public. My 12 year old niece was at my house on August 9, 1998 and on the tv news there was a story about it being the anniversary of the Manson Family murders, and my niece wanted to know about Sharon Tate. She went online and just searched for pictures of her in general, and there among the numerous normal pictures of her were numerous crime scene and morgue photos, most in color. And not just Sharon, but Jay’s and the others. It was extremely upsetting, and infuriating because my niece didn’t ask to see anything like that.
