Using a Pop Song by Owl City in this AMV could sound horrible as a choice usually. But, the happy song as contrasted with the subject of the movie somehow works better than I expected.

I get the same ironic reaction with Elton John songs. Compare Lion King and Grave of the Fireflies where there's the death of a main character, so the "happy, pop songs" act like a eulogy.
