Matt, you never cease to amaze and impress. Yet another masterful video. Since yesterday was Memorial day, and I a retired Navy Chief, I was moved when first I heard the opening notes of the Navy Hymn (Eternal Father, Strong to Save), and I want to thank you for the respectful attention to paid to our fallen. Your reverence to all the "permanent residents", famous or not, speaks volumes of your character. This video also had another relevance for me. I had a short part-time career as a musician in a rock band, and my desire was always to own a bass guitar from the company of Mr. Adolph Rickenbacher. I never did get one, but years later (circa 2004), I purchased a van from a woman whose son I knew sparingly through ice hockey officiating. This was yet another of my past pursuits, which I retired from in 2013 after 30 years of work. The woman who sold me the van still used her maiden name, Rickenbacker. In discussion with her, I learned she was a grand niece of Eddie Rickenbacker, whom you mentioned, and for me needs no introduction. That van is still in my driveway, and though it hasn't been driven since 2012, I can't quite bring myself to part with it. It is my connection to fame and greatness, I suppose. Side Note: It was interesting to see Adolph's gravestone has the original spelling of his name. Keep up the fine work, Matt. I will now once again go through the long wait until you release your next film.
@graveexplorations4 жыл бұрын
Thank you Jim for your very kind words and for sharing your story. Most especially, thank you for your service to our great country. Many years ago I had aspirations of becoming a musician and was huge fan of the Beatles. So one summer I saved every dollar I could scrape together and bought a Rickenbacker 620 guitar. Well, suffice to say, I never became a musician, but I still have the guitar and count in among my treasured belongings. I don't play as much as I used to, but every know and then I take it out of the case and play (poorly) a few chords of "Ticket to Ride" and "Mr. Tambourine Man." As for the next video, it is well along in production, almost nearly complete, so hopefully it won't be too long a wait. Thanks again for being part of my grave explorations. Wishing all the best :)
@jimtownsend78994 жыл бұрын
@@graveexplorations It was my honor to serve, Matt. I know how you feel about not playing much. Over the years I have a acquired a fairly large collection of about a dozen guitars and basses, plus a violin, viola, cello, 2 ukuleles, and yet I almost never seem to find the chance to sit and play. To this day I'm still not what I call a musician, but music brings me pleasure, and I can't worry about being "good at it". I can tell you that what you do is truly art, you are good at it, and it brings many people pleasure. Don't ever give up on that. God bless.

KZbin deleted my comment. I think I found Valli. Her name was Valli Mueller who was born Oct. 15, 1923 and died Jan. 7 1967 in Los Angeles County. According to her obituary lived in Whittier at the time of her death and was married to a Richard Gill Mueller with 2 daughters. Didn't say where she was buried but a funeral was held in La Habra, which is about 4 miles from the cemetery. She may have been born in France and her real name was Valentine Kocheleff Mueller.

The Fox Theatre may still stand in Fullerton, but I don't think it's been open since 1987. It was tagged for demolition but has been saved at least. But still harbors structural issues to prevent its rebirth. Angelo's and Vinci's Italian Restaurant occupies the backstage area. The late owner Steven Peck ran a dance studio on the 2nd floor, long since shuttered after his death 25 years ago. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fox_Theatre_(Fullerton,_California)
