This is EXACTLY the route I route many years ago. Did it as a multi day trip from Aviemore vie the Lairig Ghru, and we stayed in Tomintoul. Brought back some amazing memories, thank you.

Ha! This route is a lot more "gravel friendly". I like the drone shots. Shame the weather didn't allow you to do some more.

I think the weather is key for riding about the area. I did the road route last year and it was blazing sun in Alvie when I left by the time I got to Tomintoul it was torrential rain and on top of the Lecht 40 mph wind ended turning back into a headwind all the way back so I can imagine that route on a bad day. Don’t you just love when someone says good luck lol. A bit like when a local says it’s flat! ….they lie lol.

You're an inspiration Rusty! There's a bridge over the Nethy just north of where you waded near Forest Lodge. Looking to emulate route variation in Spring. 👍

Great video, just discovered it. Had planned on doing this as part of a longer route going clockwise. I was worried the route through Eag Mhor was a no go as there is no path on OS maps on the western approach through the woods. Nice to know its passable. Hopefully the weather will be kind when I go up. Keep up the good work.

Great video. I appreciate that Gaelic place-names can be tricky for non-natives, but dont be daunted. Give it a go next time.😊

The map marked track by the Burn o' Brown doesn't really exist, the track on the ground is mostly on the west side and crosses the burn multiple times. The burn does flood quite badly. Your final route to try is the Geldie-Feshie watershed but it's much better after a dry spell. Again, check out the Cairngorm Loop for the route.

See! I said it was better.. I have to say it’s a bit more overgrown through the Dorback section from when I did it back in the 1980’s.

Hi, just watched your film. Great inspiration! I’m planning a “bike packing Scotland” next summer and want to do this route as part of the trip. It appears the Komoot route in your link is private. Would love to get access. Thanks

The best laid plans o’ mice, and men, gang aft a-gley…. Keep working on the Gaelic, lol -it’s said ‘bulg’ like bulge, but with a hard ‘g’, like rag. The ‘i’ in Builg is like the p in both ptarmigan and swimming -silent 😂👍🏻
