Fast AF Factor Ostro Gravel: First Look

I've had mine for about a year now and it's truly the do it all bike. I have two sets of wheels, one with gravel tires (Tufo Thundero 44mm) and one with road tires (Pirelli P-Zero 30mm), and just swap them depending on the ride. It's noticeably fast, comfortable, and versatile. Factor crushed it on this one.

@@jacklauren9359 yes, I'm sure. I've compared many segments between the OSTRO and my Caledonia-5 on both gravel and road under similar conditions and power. The OSTRO is faster everywhere.

I’ve seen a couple reviews saying it’s stiff and quite uncomfortable on gravel. What is your experience? I just seriously love the look.

@@MarkLRandall I find it to be quite comfortable, even when I was riding on 40's. I guess much of it is expectation. Is it as comfortable as my Warbird? Nope, but the difference isn't significant either. The geo and handling are sharp enough for road and not so sharp offroad that it feels unstable. This thing is planted. Honestly, tires and pressure will make a bigger difference (for any bike) and when I went up to the Tufo 44's from the 40's it was a massive difference.

@@h18p Thank you for the feedback, very much appreciated! I am looking for a bike for road and gravel, and I love the aero looks of the Ostro. Like you said, tires/pressures are a huge factor.

I have gravel raced the FACTOR Vista and LS but decided to not get the OSTRO Gravel because of the geometry and cost. I went with the Scott Addict Gravel which is gives the FAF feeling as well for about $,3500 for complete bike. The OSTRO bike is defiantly fast and stretched out. If you want a top tier race bike and get the attention of the front pack this is the bike. The paint and carbon layup is just quality thus the high price tag.

Never ridden the Scott Addict Gravel, would like to for certain. Regarding the Ostro, I think I got pretty close with my normal fit type numbers.

I really wanted one of these but when it came time to pull the trigger I got a Cervelo R5cx as it's as good (or better) and was much more affordable at the time of purchase. Best-kept gravel racing secret out there, IMO.

What an excellent looking bike, lucky you :) Do you have any toe overlap on this? I had some bikes where my toes will overlap with the front tire, especially when riding chunkier tires like 50 millimeters and I only use shoes EU 41. Just wanted to ask your take in this since you have one of these beauties.

Hello there, I have not ridden it yet, but I 100% know what you're talking about, and have experienced it in the past. This is a review bike, not mine, but I hope my EU 43 shoes to not toe overlap with 45's... stay tuned.

FYI, the bike in the video is $US 8,999 (still not cheap) - factorbikes.com/bike-builder/ostro-gravel-sram-red-xplr-w-power-meter - Thinking similarly spec'd bikes could be pricier.

@GravelCyclist Compared to what would get for that sort of money if I bought a motorcycle, the bike certainly isn't value for money.

Drivetrain could be upgraded, front end being integrated, difficult to make changes for certain.
