The best and most informative video I've seen of the Gravely line-up yet. Still debating on what to buy. Having trouble choosing between the HD-60" and the Pro-Turn 60". I would choose a Kawasaki in either application. I'm mowing 4.8 acres in eastern Iowa. All grass with minimal slope of wide-open mowing. Lots of trees to go around as well.

Can you tell me more about the "Graverly" engine? Only saw one model with it. Who is it made by?

The Gravely Engine is made by Loncin; however, all Parts are sold by Ariens/Gravely and the engine warranty is administered by Ariens/Gravely. The latest version of this engine is rated at 26.5 HP and based on our preliminary testing and use, it performs well. Gravely backs it with a 4-Year Warranty and while it isn't at the level of a Kawasaki, Kohler, or Yamaha - it is a good option for many people. It is worth noting that the replacement cost on this engine is only about $450 so in the event of a long term replacement being needed... you can buy 3 of these for less than a single Kawasaki.

Hi Scott, you can certainly add mulching blades. Gravely offers a mulch "kit" if you wanted dedicated mulching. This would have steel baffles that enclose each blade and prevent grass from blowing out in addition to mulching blades. Most of our customers prefer a side discharge but are always looking for a finer cut. Notched or toothed blades such as the Oregon G6 Gator blades work well for this by providing high lift as well as some mulching effect but still dispersing the clippings well from the discharge chute. We stock these for nearly every mower brand and can ship them right to your door. Thanks for your question!

Does the XL have a fuel gauge? My HD doesn't. Impossible to know what's in it. I simply can't believe they couldn't throw in a $20 fuel level gauge :-/

The XL does not have a fuel gauge. Some model years have a "Sight Glass" style viewing strip which does give you some ability to see the fuel level. If you have a newer HD you would find this on the front of the machine right below the seat. Unfortunately, you do have to be off the machine to view the fuel level, but it is better than nothing... Certainly a float style fuel gauge visible to the operator would be more convenient; however, the typical user of an HD doesn't use an entire tank of fuel in one day and therefore by starting with a full tank each time they mow, the fuel level is never an issue for them. If you happen to be one of the less common people who use an HD for very large lawns or for commercial mowing, you won't be able to make it all day and would need to plan a mid-day refueling.

No, you didn't miss it! We don't carry the ZT base models at our dealership from Gravely. We carry those machines in the Ariens Brand (same machine with different paint). We try to help make it easier for customers that visit in person by having all our Heavy Duty and Commercial Machines Red (Gravely) and our Residential machines Orange (Ariens). My neighbor cuts with a 72 inch pro turn 4 something? I don't know about his blades but his lawn looks terrible

Mowing with a 6 ft deck and having a nice finished look takes some experience unless the lawn is completely flat. Large decks are much more susceptible to leaving lines at the transition points of contours and overlaps. Experienced operators can "read" a lawn and identify the best way to reduce or eliminate this issue. Overall, for most people, a deck that large just isn't practical.
