I used to do this when I was young & found some very old family plots like that in upstate N.Y. & Va Some beautiful rubbings

I grandfather is buried at one of the missions in California and they have an old cemetery I love to read the gravestones.. TFS

Reading gravestones was one of my Auntie's 'things' in the old days, and we have a church near us where the graves are the pathways, never did like walking in there, I thought it was awfully disrespectful to walk over them. Tfs xo
