Testing Viral TIKTOK ART HACKS

I tested viral TikTok Art Hacks to see if they're good. This is my first time ever testing art hacks from TikTok, my first attempt at finding art hacks that actually work. In today's video I tried some art hacks and diys, just some art hacks for artists.... "hacks". Art tiktok had some viral hacks ..."hacks"... that we'll be taking a closer look at today. Not everything was smooth sailing, there were definitely some ups and downs, made some things that I absolutely LOVE and some disasters (as expected lol) but I hope you enjoy the video!

You should try peeling off the crayon sleeves like NerdECrafter! She just makes a slice with an X-Acto knife from top to bottom and the whole sleeve comes off 🙂

My kids say I have to inform you that to get any excess wax off of Sniffledorf (the drawing...please don'tiron your cat) you need to put a paper towel over him and iron it and the paper towel will soak up the wax.

You just brought back the long forgotten memory of that specific kind of pain you get when slivers of crayon get wedged under your nails when peeling off crayon wrappers. It must have been well over thirty years since I peeled a crayon, but the pain is now fresh in my mind again. Rip your thumb.

I was going to tell you about the water and the crayons 🖍 but you got it 👍. It's weird though. My wrappers have always just flown off, barely even attached. I'd have taken the wrappers and put them in resin, because, reasons. Vayz...ha... I did not know there was a 3rd way to say vase 😄 For using video from other sources like Tik Tok, you can turn the video so it's mirrored. That should keep that from happening. I mean, it's supposed to look like clay which is mud, so, you're doing it right. Sewing chalk is also a thing.

3:07 I can see a slight difference (2nd, 3rd, 4th & 7th crayons are darker) but women have the ability to see color variation a bit easier than men

You can get a "leather" look with masking tape and dark brown shoe polish. Roughly tear 1 inch or less strips of masking tape, randomly and completely cover a glass jar or vase. Then rub the shoe polish over the tape! Done!

The vase painting works/looks better if you use sand or baking SODA. Also, prep the glass with either spray primer or even mod podge will work. An extra step, but if it's something you really want to work, it's worth it. :)

Back at it with the evil “arr-ang” I see 😱🍊 That aside, I really like how the Sniffledorf/crayon came out, Rawr Babe. I did a version of this with my dad a lot of years ago (👵🏻) on glass instead of canvas. It didn’t turn out how I expected, but I added googly eyes to turn the drippy-blobs into monster creatures 😂 ~over sharing~

Aww, Sniffledorf is adorable. Growing like a weed... ;o) The vases still turned out pretty good, the colours were a good choice. And I really like your rainbow painting with the crayons. Jury is out on the fabric painting though. ;o) That vase with the handle might actually be a beer "mug." The triangles etched into it may be the logo for the Delta Delta Delta sorority (aka Tri Delta). The "ceramic" paint usually uses baking soda, not baking powder. It seems, the more baking soda you use, the more "texture" it has (and the thicker the paint). I"m also wondering if the "glass" needs some sanding before painting, but have no idea on that.

I like to paint on clothes, and I use chalk as well to sketch : I use a cheap pencil sharpener to get a thin pointy "tip". I use "frixion" gel pens as well, they disapear with warmth (at 55°C)

You can also take an x-acto knife and slice the crayon wrapper down the middle to take it off! I’ve seen other people do that!

Well the first mistake was using baking powder instead of baking soda. Powder does work and create a paint but it does foam like that if you just wanting a more general texture than I find baking soda works really well. Also I like to use the folk all multi-surface cuz it has better adhesion and give it a light sanding to add grip

Your Snifledorf pic was great, the hacks are dumb though, haberdashers chalk is a real thing and would be much easier to draw with. The vases didn't look bad from a social distance!

For painting on the vases, you can mix the paint with modge podge. Or, you can modge podge the glass first to give the surface some grip. :) Then it won't chip.

Pink and magenta are actually in the rainbow, turquoise is a little dark, but I guess can work instead of cyan. But if you are including orange in your rainbow, which is a tertiary color, then the number of colors goes up to 12, this is the rainbow I like to use. Here is the useful rainbow for traditional art: Red (secondary) Orange Yellow (primary) Lime Green (secondary) Mint Cyan (primary) Sky Blue (secondary) Purple/violet Magenta (primary) Pink (Also, it's a circle and can start where ever you want) You can stop here, that's all you need to know, but if you want to know more about how/why: The rainbow we are taught in school is old science, also, mixing colors with paint is complicated because it's chemistry. With paint you aren't mixing colors, you are mixing chemicals and that can be pretty wacky. So following methods that others have done is easier, so traditional artists have trouble parting from the old way/don't see a point. There are 2 ways of creating rainbows, with things, or with light. Things is called subtractive, light is called additive. Additive kinda flips subtractive on it's head. It takes the primary colors and makes them secondary colors and secondary colors and makes them primary colors. So you have: Red (primary) Orange Yellow (secondary) Lime Green (primary) Mint Cyan (secondary) Sky Blue (primary) Purple/violet Magenta (secondary) Pink If you want to play with the colors yourself I would recommend coolors.co, start the generator, click the 6 digit big bold thing on any color to edit it (this is the hex code), click where it says HEX on the popup, then either click RGB or CMYK. RGB stands for Red Green Blue, and CMYK stands for Cyan Magenta Yellow Black. Experiment with them to see how colors work (or in the case of CMYK, specifically how your printer makes all of the colors, since like I said inks and paints are chemistry and complicated. Why does the rainbow look wrong without orange? Because we don't see all colors equally. We have 3 cones in our eyes that receive light waves in the colors Red Green and Blue, which is why those are the primary colors, animals with different cones would have different primary colors. Each cone is different in sensitivity, so we are most sensitive to Red and least sensitive to Green, making us better at determining the difference between colors on the red part of the rainbow than the green part. Fun and final fact: the rainbow in the sky doesn't have Magenta because it doesn't actually exist. What I mean by this is that there are long wave lengths and there are short wavelengths and the wavelengths in between. Red is the longest wavelengths we can see (longer are infrared), the shortest ones are blue (shorter are ultraviolet). Magenta on the other hand is a combination of multiple wavelengths that trigger the red and blue cones, so it isn't represented in the rainbow. But what about purple? It's also a combination of blue and red, just more on the blue side, so also isn't actually in the rainbow in the sky.

Bare with me here, I'm a Pre-k teacher and we go through a ton if crayons, for them I use one of those razor-blade-knives and it's mega easy, just slice down the crayon and the crayon will just lose it's wrapper.

Love your hilarious channel. I liked your cat stuck in the rainbow. If you use glitter fabric paint on cloth after it dries it looks like beadwork. I did that with a pair of "white" moccasins that were second hand. I do beadwork. I would like to see what you can paint with glitter fabric paint. Enjoy your videos and art.

If you need wrappers off of a crayon it is best to carefully use an execto knife. Which is truly evil to the crayons. Hope this helps in the future, I love your videos! Your sense of humour is just chef's kiss. But evil chef's kiss, just to be clear

They do make an enamel paint that sticks to glass. I use it a lot and it does work as long as you rough up the surface a bit.

For crayons: next time stick them in the freezer for a couple of hours and the papers slide right off and you can use them later for another craft

Over last weekend my parents decided to adopt this little stray kitten that lived down the street because we have bad coyote problems around our neighborhood and over the years we went from crazy amounts of cats to barely any because they have been eaten😭☹️ anyways, my parents allowed me to keep this little black kitten with green eyes and I named him Pesto😊❤️He is so sweet and seeing your kitty I realized they look pretty similar, other than yours has white on him😊🐈🐱
