It's such a funny coincidence: I taught myself coding with Angular about a year and a half ago with your videos. Got a job as a frontend developer. Ended up not watching in a while and now wanted to create a custom CV using gravit which I stumbled across, because I liked the style and the free options. I got it with one of your videos in the back of my mind. I was thinking: I'm gonna do a more artsy twist with some background SVGs to make stuff look like in one of your videos that I watched back in the day. Now I'm looking up tutorials on Gravit...and turns out you do in fact use it for those exact things. ... You were always on my mind :D

Nice tutorial. As an experienced Gravit Designer user I can say that this is only the tip of the iceberg of what Gravit Designer can do. There are more cool features like symbols, anchoring, transform, shared styles .. etc.

You should try Figma it is better for prototyping, www.figma.com/ , it offer free version that is amazing

Michelle Perez Morales - I've looked at Figma and it seems like a great tool. I'm not a fan of their operating model. I don't want to be tied to the online service. I appreciate that with Gravit I can work completely offline. As far as that goes I don't even have to sign up to download their client. That is huge for me, and I imagine others as well. I can save a copy of Gravit locally and if they ever drop the service or application I will still have my backup.

I tried Figma which is better when it comes to prototyping but as a UI design tool I prefer Gravit Designer because of it's feature set.

Lol , Gravit and Figma have entirely different purpose. one is design tool , other is prototyping/wireframing tool

I started using Gravit a few months ago. It's really a superb tool. I wish it was open source, but I understand the need to recoupe development costs through licensing the backend engine. It's been really great having a cross platform tool I can use for prototyping at home on Linux and then easily import at work. Using the online edition at work allows me to go back and forth seemlessly without running into IT/config management issues on my Windows 10 PC at work. It's very quickly replacing my use of inkscape for all vector work. My next test is going to be seeing if I can use it for laser cutting. Inkscape has a few issues sending directly to the laser cutter at our library without saving to PDF first. I'll be seriously impressed if Gravit can handle things without issue.

yeah. its the default theme, but you can change it by going to edit>settings>change theme and select the dark theme. quick question, is it still free? Mine seems to not be

Great tutorial. Thank you. I wish that I had seen it before starting to use Gravit a couple of days ago. Having said that, I have to say that Gravit is much easier to use - it is a joy - than Inkscape, which I (as an amateur) had been using since my (pretty old version) of CorelDraw was no longer viable. The cost of the high end prof. programmes is too high, though, hence me seeking cheaper/free alternatives for Illustrator or CorelDraw, and Photoshop. GIMP has been a good replacement for the raster-based apps, but Inkscape, while having a fairly good feature set, has been very 'clunky' and has got in the way of my workflow.

At the top left corner of the program click "Edit". Then at the very bottom of the drop-down click "Settings". There is an option for changing the theme from light to dark. :-)

it will stay free but few features like extended high-quality PDF export, extended SVG export, advanced symbol features, CYMK and swatches, will be behind a paywall it happened bc they were acquired by Corel draw's company.
