Maratha's ship were built for fighting they had cannons which were used to destroy enemy ships. They used to capture british and portuguese merchant ship. They also destroyed ships of britishers and portuguese. Just like gureilla warfare they used unique tactic to fight in naval battle. 1) They made ship that were good at fighting in coastal areas because most of the foreigners ships were built to fight in deep seas. 2) They fought from area where enemy ships would have difficulty to attack. 3) Most enemy ships had guns on the side but Marathas ships had ability to fire from front side. 4) In case enemy had more chance of winning Marathas navy could retreat fast to fort where cannon were used to destroy enemy ships in case they followed. 5) They used to keep large distance between ship which made it difficult for enemy to fight. Maratha Ships were built for defending coast and capturing merchant ships and destroying foreign ships. They didn't went to capture other country because most of India was captured by invaders at that time. And they had to fight them. But they used ship to capture forts on Indian coast. They had battleship of different sizes, small one had one to two canons in front and large one had cannons on side as well as in front.

The Indian Navy should think about building a ship similar to China's Type-75. Aircraft Carriers are notoriously expensive and requires long maintenance cycles. The Type-75 is very versatile allowing for both amphibious and air warfare. The Type-75 will also allow India to respond to humanitarian disasters fairly quickly. India can build 2 of these for the price of 1 aircraft carrier. They can both be deployed at the Southern tip of India as well. That part of India must be guarded as well. 17

There are a lot of factors that go into strength of a Navy than pure number of combatants. There is a massive world of a difference between diesel submarines and nuclear submarines, for instance. Also, tonnage of each surface combatant does have some potential correlation to combat effectiveness. To back that up, think of say a fleet of 400 surface combatants, but 200 are fast patrol boats in the range of 600 tons. These are hardly consequential to many navys, though arguments can be made for the swarm tactics. Also, keep in mind that the United States kind of has another 8 or 9 aircraft carriers in addition to the 10 Nimitz-class and Ford-class in active duty. Those are the LHA and LHD ships in the 40,000-50,000 ton range-basically our “light carriers” that are of similar tonnage to many nations’ primary carriers.

I really feel sorry for those Chinese soldiers (who are participating in Russian War excercise along with india). Their brethrens were brutally killed (by only handful of Indian army, while their thousand of remaining soldiers watched in fear, shitting their pants) while trying to stand ground against Indian soldiers in galwan valley, they must be peeing their pants seeing Indian soldiers around them....this is a shame 😔😔😔😔

China is too far away from the Indian Ocean to effectively challenege the Indian Navy and there is also the unsinkable aircraft carrier in China's approach to the Indian Ocean, Andaman and Nicobar islands. And Pakistan Navy is just not a real challenge.

I do hope our shipyards can make Aircraft Carriers faster, this ship took too long to build, if construction continues at similar speed India will never have 3 Aircraft Carriers, because by the time 3rd will be delivered, 1st will retire. Also the Navy today needs to envision 5 Aircraft Carriers by 2050. 2 Active, 2 Reserve, 1 in Extended Readiness.

As an indian citizen from Chennai, i honestly don't give a shit about our military. Everyday I go out to the street, my senses are assaulted by noise pollution from honking, from air pollution from the dust, from ground pollution by poorly laid or dug out roads. I've been around the world and I can tell you that we have easily, the lowest quality of life on a day to day basis. I mean, it's close competition between us and some Mali refugee camp. Forget this geopolitics stuff. We haven't even sorted our basic civil life - i'm referring to the average indian citizen, not some 5-10% educated elite. Ok there's hyperbole in what I wrote, yes we have great hospitals, good colleges, good internet and access to buy whatever we want, but you know what i'm saying. People don't leave India to chase after money, mostly they leave India to put a distance between themselves and the 30-50% of indians who behave in a rather uncivilized way.

You are bangladeshi very nice. Why don't you search Bangladesh is part of One Belt One Road Project....which is a debt rule policy by which China invest in billions by loans for unviable projects. Which you will counter argue..... but look at Srilanka which always denies this now all know China taken the Hambantotta port else repay the loan it is indirectly a threat.... which you will say it is business.... but recently China bring spy military vessel on that port even forcely as SL rejected the given permission due to India objection which China again use their debt as a levarage made Srilank to allow due you think it is good for sovereignty of any nation.... so it doesn't matter if china is building port or developing linkage projects to the port it is same thing china will put billions of loan to bangladesh for the unviable projects as it will never generate the enough revenue and ultimately give another example of debt policy..... I think you are bangladesi so better know how Pakistan and Srilanka falls in the trap.... destroyed their economy as because of debt on country investors start running to another country which will be viable..... so protect untill not too late
