Q&A with Dan
AC: How did you narrow down on the Perfumer? What was the thought process behind that.
DN: We wanted an English perfumer as we are a British / English brand. John Stephen has produced fragrances for Czech & Speake and Boudicea the Victorious and has his own great range at The Cotswold Perfumery. He was a perfect fit .
AC: How did you conceptualize this fragrance? What were the thoughts behind the actual scent?
DN: I wanted to create a fragrance that would be “very me” . Something that people who like the fragrances I recommend on my channel would recognise as a typical Mr Smelly style scent. Therefore I asked for a classic aromatic fougere with bergamont and lavender and a subtly spicy and sweet undertone to keep things interesting.
AC: What role did you play in finalizing the actual scent ? How many improvements and tweaks did you have to make?
DN: I am going to be very honest here and say that the first batch that was produced really blew me away. The perfumer asked if I would like some tweaks but in all honesty I couldn’t find any fault with it!
AC: The quality of the fragrance is Impeccable in my opinion, so in this age of people trying to fleece the customer, how did you manage to keep the price of the fragrance on the kickstarter campaign so reasonable?
DN: We were very keen to keep the price reasonable. The ingredients we used were of the highest quality. Fortunately the formula does not require some of the more expensive ingredients such as Oud or natural rose etc. In more expensive fragrances one is often paying extra for the extravagant packaging or the “prestige” of a famous brand name.
AC: Will you have a shop front ? and if yes, could you please elaborate on how people could order this ?
DN: Yes we will continue to sell through a Naughton & Wilson website which will be live very soon.

Other reviewers have said that in the dry down the mandarin note takes a step back and the vanilla becomes more prominent.

AC, thank you! Your review highlights some very interesting facets of the fragrance. Everybody's getting something different from it and that is a sign of quality materials and skilled composition. Hi AC, i am so pleased that you have reviewed this fragrance, i have been a subscriber to Mr smelly channel for some considerable time and i have been aware of this fragrance from the beginning, and the only other review i have seen is by smurfygurly (who is good), but in this case i trust your impartial review, and I am going to get a sample when available as I am very fussy about barber shop type fragrances, must admit that I am a little disappointed with you saying it becomes a skin scent quite quickly as its a extract and the price point, but thank you for your excellent review

Thank you David. test it out and see how it goes on your skin please David, and also I get a feeling that this will wear better in warmish weather. Its a bit too cold at the moment. Dont worry too much about the barbershop side of things as this is boderline barbershop scent and more of a citrus aromatic. Very high quality scent mate, trust me :)
