Just watching this in 2022 and that tip about staring at the 15th / 17th fret is so helpful even in other things where I often overshoot (when i follow my finger with my eyes). Such a simple thing but wow

As a beginner guitar player, it's really cool to see and hear some beautiful solos that aren't just straight shredding. I don't think I'll ever have crazy chops so it's good to know I'll still be capable of some beautiful music despite that XD Don't get me wrong. John Mayer can play the guitar like nobody's business lol

Try as if your shaking the guitar neck, rather than trying to move the string up and down, if that makes sense😂

Hi Justin! Superb lesson. One question please: you said it’s G minor pentatonic. But the solos use many other notes, too. It’s he switching to C minor within or to major pentatonic? Thank you
@eddieloid2 жыл бұрын
It's largely E minor pentatonic as far as I can tell, surely? An Em pentatonic scale sounds perfect over a song in G major and this is how I interpret this song structure and the fret positions of the soloing notes he uses, which largely sit within the E minor pentatonic scale patterns. Of course, some might say it is simply an E minor blues rather than a song in G major, the former being simply being the relative minor of the latter. As a learner I would be interested to hear others' views.

i cant get the notes to sustain long enough for the slides.
@konradknap_5 жыл бұрын
Use a compressor pedal if you wanna maintain a clean tone, but add sustain. Or crank up your guitar amp to get more distortion. And basically, distortion is compressing the sound as well. (increasing the sustain).

@XZ279776 жыл бұрын
Justin says on his website that he is using the Luxe 2 profile by M Britt with his Kemper. I couldn't find this exact profile and I'm not sure which M Britt profile pack it is in. Justin also uses the 62 Luxe 6 profile by M Britt for Mayer tones (which may be the same profile as the Luxe 2 but with a different name). If you haven't been to Justin's website yet you are missing out on something great.
